Septic tank

Failure to maintain your septic system can result in backups, leaks and pricey replacements. Here are a few tips to help you keep your septic system healthy:

  1. Watch what you flush. Certain household items won’t break down in your septic tank. Keep these materials out of your septic system:
    • Baby wipes
    • Dental floss
    • Diapers
    • Cotton swabs
    • Matches
    • Coffee grounds
    • Cat litter
    • Paper towels
  2. Use septic treatments. Septic treatments eliminate blockage by introducing waste-consuming bacteria into your system. These bacteria lower in-tank levels and reduce the chances of blockage.
  3. Have your system pumped. A regular septic pumping costs around $400 and will eliminate solid waste, grease, non-decomposing items and other blockage-causing materials from your tank, saving you on much larger repairs and expenses down the line. Pump your septic tank every four to five years for optimum health. More frequent pumps are sometimes necessary, especially if you own a commercial building.

I want to buy a 4 br 3bath 2000 sq ft mobile home. How much would it cost to put in a good septic system? I don’t want an old fashioned septic tank
