Comment: We just purchased a home that was built in the 70's and I wanted to scrape the ceilings myself to allow that budget to go into new flooring. Step 1 of our project is scraping the ceilings and we've been informed that a home in the 70's is likely to have asbestos in the popcorn ceilings and that a professional needs to remove and properly dispose of the matter. The home is 2500 sq ft, and I would say there is about 1900 sq ft of popcorn ceilings (There is a sun room that doesnt have them and a huge exposed brick section that probably covers about 300 sq ft. We are needing an estimate of what this would cost to decide if it is even possible to include it in the budget.
