Comment: Hi, I am completing a redwood slab table top that has been drying in my garage in Riverside for 2 1/2 years. (table top dimensions 60"x18"x4") It is ready for finish but it has two 8"x1/4" cracks, one at each end of it's surface. I would like to prevent further cracking and add a decorative detail by using "bow tie" or "butterfly" wood inserts inlayed perpendicular to the cracks. I have seen these inserts used on artistic wood furniture surfaces and I desire this look and repair on my table top. Can you help me with this procedure?
