Comment: Since Holly forced us to hook up to water and sewer when the new high school was built, we have had a problem with sewer gas odors outside and surrounding our house. We have spent a few thousand dollars and tried many things. The Village of Holly even installed a check valve on our line which seems to have become the main source of the smell. We wish to change the location of our main sewer line and check valve, which now exits the rear of our house (where the septic system used to be), turns around the corner of the house and goes to the street. We want to price reconnecting the waste pipes inside to a line that will exit the basement closer to the street and in a straighter line. We believe this may cause the odors (which we now know are caused by shoddy engineering of the original project by the village and school district), to stop clinging to the back wall of the house because the sewer line will no longer be there.
