The owner of the air conditioning company (hereinafter Mr.D.) arrived later than promised. He then had his inexperienced son (and a nephew who he later fired) do most of the work installing the compressor and air handler; he initially failed to bring proper equipment and had to return with it. Not surprisingly, Mr.D. didn't complete the job (as promised) on the first day because he had arrived so late, and left my house without completing the installation of the new A/C unit during very hot weather. In addition, he left the house in FILTHY condition due to having to saw through a wood door and ceiling, without first laying down plastic or Polyethylene or other tarp-like covering (a simple step that would have spared me from having to vacuum the entire house and wipe clean many of the surfaces in the house, which I had to do after he left that first day). Next day, Mr.D and his son again arrived late. When it came time to insert the filter into the air handler, it became apparent that Mr.D. had measured the space incorrectly such that the linen closet door frame protruded into the place where the filter needed to be inserted into the unit--this required the RE-POSITIONING of the entire air handler, a very time consuming and labor-intensive job. Then when he had to install the required grated vent in the closet door (requiring more sawing of the wooden door), in order to avoid a repetition of the prior day's awful mess from flying sawdust, he removed the closet door to take it outside, and proceeded to saw the large opening in the door for the grate. But when he cut out the approximately 19 inch square hole in the door, he MISTAKENLY did so in the TOP of the door (and inserted the grate upside-down at that) rather than in the LOWER portion of the door as I had requested. This could not be rectified absent my requiring Mr.D. to buy and install a new door; a task that would have further delayed the completion of the job for yet another day and one that I did not want to risk given the multiple errors that had plagued this entire installation. Finally, when it came time for the City to make its final inspection, the inspector asked Mr. D. where the CAPS were for the Freon tubes at the base of the compressor; Mr. D. had neglected to install those caps, which he knew was required by law. He had to obtain these caps, which he said were in his truck; the inspector told him that the caps must be locked. Mr. D. had what he said was his ONLY key and he locked the caps. But he did NOT provide ME with a key so I could gain access to the Freon lines for any subsequent repair. He assured me in front of the inspector that he would drop off my key, so the inspector signed off on the job and left. That was in October. I have called Mr. D. several times asking him to bring me my key to those LOCKED Freon caps and he has promised he would but he has steadfastly refused to do so. Now it is mid-January 2016 and I still have no key or access to the Freon line! In short, an inept and unprofessional AC company.
Response by Air X MD, Inc.: This not an honest review of what happened, most of the review is not true. First I did not bring the wrong equipment but we were late with the delivery. The job was not promised to be completed in 1 day as stated by Mr.Mark L. this was not a simple change out the equipment has to be relocated. There was some mess that was presented to me the day after the airhandler unit install. It was my employee fault it was his job to do I was not aware that he came to work ill that day. I apologized and offered have someone clean the mess or pay for the clean up myself. And finally I did not promise in front of the city inspector to bring Mr. Mark L . any key for Freon access locks. Only to bring locking caps that are required by building code to be placed on the ac condensing unit . These locks are protect the environment as prevent sniffing Freon by persons. All licensed contractors have keys. It not required for the home owner I only offered when as courtesy for the mess from the other day. I promised to send as soon as possible and still will .
