Review by a homeowner in Mountain View, CA
Project: Install or Replace Ductwork
Work turned out to be more than origianlly expected and logically, the cost went up (I'm fine w/ that). The quality was Ok at best. Even to my untrained eye it was clear that some corners were cut (e.g. a firestop wasn't installed where it should've been). The company had to send somebody again to fix a flaw in the original work (the plenum leaked air). Overall service was average: I had to call multiple times to schedule/re-schedule.

Excellent and prompt service. The technician was onsite within two hous of my discovering the failed A/C unit and contacting ServiceMagic. The only negative on the whole experience was later finding out that the part replaced, a common 50 uF capacitor, actually costs considerably less than we were charged.

Owner was late to appointment. I asked many questions and he really didn't have a good answer as to why the air was going off and on. He went out to service the air conditioner and asked if I would like a part replaced to lower the noise of the unit. He replaced it and it is still just as loud as before and I am out $160 for the part and labor. He also recommended I replace the circuit board because the air went off 10 times while he was here after I told him this is what was happening. His price to replace the board was $400-$500. I researched the curcuit board cost and the part is $150 and it takes 1/2 hour to install. Do not hire!
