How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I am an expert in the fields of foundation repair and soil and structure stabilization and am a seasoned land-development engineer. I have performed thousands of forensic evaluations of foundations and structures and am a preferred mediating expert for disputes or differences of opinion regarding the origin of cause pertaining to sinkhole activity, expansive soils, organic soils and method of remediation disputes. I regularly provide expert witness testimonies for various cases for depositions and trial. In addition, I have successfully lead multi-million dollar commercial developers as well as small residential developers, state agencies and other clientele through the land-development process: conceptual phase, design phase, permitting phase and construction phase. Previously, I owned a residential cosmetic and restoration repair company for five years. In total, I have been responsible for over 50 million in project scope since 2001..

We started in this industry in 2001.

We describe our business as Well established

The bank required a foundation assessment report to approve the load because they saw some cracks on outside wall, so I searched on my phone and found Crosstown Engineering on HomeAdvisor.com and hired them. At first I worried about if they would exaggerate the issue to make more money from the repair, but it turned out that my worry is unnecessary. The structural engineer is a very nice gentleman and very professional. He did his job based on fact and the measurements. He gave me an objective assessment. My English is not that perfect and he explained everything to me with patience, and showed me around the house to point out things I need to watch. I can feel he's an honest person. Finally I was told that there's no serious problem with the house foundation. No immediate repair is needed! I only need to keep watching certain points of the house to make sure things are not getting worse, or I can do an optional repair which only costs about 2k - 3k during the summer if I like. I'm really happy with the result and their service. One more thing to mention. The bank required me to submit the foundation assessment report the next day in order to close the deal as scheduled. But typically it takes two business days for the report to come out after the inspection. The lady with Crosstown who answered the phone tried her best to get me the report the next day. She even waived the $25 expedite fee from me. I really feel blessed!

I gave a low rating because I hired this company to help me make a cost efficient decision regarding the foundation of my home. I explained my situation to the engineer, and his professional opinion was very high dollar based on the schematic he developed. I sent his paperwork to a few foundation repair companies, and one contacted me saying he disagreed with the recommendation and spoke to another engineer at Crosstown and the engineer agreed with him. I then spoke to this other engineer myself and he told me the same thing, that the schematic was "conservative" and necessary, and a less expensive procedure would be fine. I was floored that I paid almost $600 to be given the most expensive way to correct the issue and not even told about other options. I was not pleased.

I suspected I might need some foundation work. The SE was on time and explained what he would be doing to complete his evaluation. After finding a water leak, rather than recommend immediate foundation work, he recommended another evaluation in 4 months after the leak was repaired. With any luck, I will not need foundation work. I appreciate the non-biased evaluation.
Response by Crosstown Engineering: Awesome! We are glad you are happy.
