Way too expensive for what he did. He looked around, made a recommendation about a structural piece, and charged $300. For 45 minutes (max) of work. Quite an hourly rate...

Failed to disclose the fee for services rendered. I thought I was getting an estimate when in fact I received an invoice.

Response by Matthew Holbrook Structural Engineer: For professional engineering services the product is a site visit and report on findings. This is what was provided. I do not perform repairs or estimate them. I can give an estimate of my fees when asked for it. David did not aks for an estimate, he shceduked a site visit.

Mr. Holbrook was very thorough in talking ith us about our foundation concerns. He patiently explained the cause of our foundation issue as well as possible solutions. While our problem turned out to not require a structural engineer (we're structurally sound after all). Mr. Holbrook provided a complete report for remdiating our sagging floors.

I sold my home and the buyers lender required a structural engineer to inspect my home's foundation, deem it satisfactory, and provide a letter to that fact. Matthew was out the next day and provided the lender the required letter within 24 hours. I was very much satisfied with the work that Matthew did for me.

Matthew promptly scheduled a time to inspect our structural problem and provided us with specific recommendations regarding the proper way things should be repaired. He followed up the next day with a written report summarizing his findings.
