They did not do the work they said they were going to do. A week after doing the work they finally mailed in for a permit which won't pass inspection. They are not sensitive to your time frame or needs.

Project: Install a Brick or Stone Fireplace
Avoid Pro-Tech Chimney! Prior to buying a duplex, Pro-Tech Chimney was used by the sellers to repair and certify the chimney. They spent over $2000 for the work. It came with a transferable warranty. Waterproofing was included on the paperwork. On March 31st the chimney had water pouring down. I called and left a message. My call was returned within minutes. The woman was very helpful and confirmed that waterproofing was covered and that they'd be out to fix the problem once the rain let up. She explained the need for everything to be dry and that there may be a delay due to April showers. We scheduled a tentative date. She told me a technician would call the night before to confirm or cancel depending on the weather. The technician didn't call until 1 1/2 hours after the appointment time to cancel. He also explained the need for dry day, and said someone from office would call today to reschedule. Nobody called. The next day, I called left a message, no return call. It was going to rain for several days, so figured they were just waiting until weather cleared. 5 days later still no call, so called and left another message, then the same the day after that, with no return call. My husband called later that day, and got an answer first try. He set up an appointment for Thursday. The technicians get to house and begin by telling my daughter it was just due to the nor'easter and everybody gets leaks when we have that kind of weather. She explained, that it continued to leak on days with light rain as well. He then tells my husband that it would need to be waterproofed and have new flashing installed for $600. He said the initial job was for the liner and waterproofing was not done. I have my husband pull up and show the technician the paperwork and warranty info including waterproofing. He then back pedals and said he would reapply the solution but would still charge $300 for flashing. We thought that the waterproofing warranty meant they made sure all areas for water intrusion were covered, so we decline that and he only applied the waterproofing solution at this time. When he was done, and gave me the new paperwork, I confronted him on the situation. He said "I was here for the initial job, it was to install the liner, not for leaks." I told him it was certified to be in good working order and you tried to get over on us about the waterproofing! He said "I was doing the liner someone else did the waterproofing, so I forgot it was done, you would have been reimbursed." I feel like this company is shady! Once they realized they weren't going to make money on the call, they wouldn't return phone messages. Then they felt since we didn't pay for nor request the initial work, that we would be clueless as to what was done! I would think the scope of the job and what was covered would have been part of the new job order, regardless if he "forgot" what was done previously. I put two calls in to the office to give them a chance to rectify the customer service issues, they still have not returned my calls!
