Interviewed a number of moving firms, including the nationals. Based on all the information, and competitive pricing, selected SEVL. The crew was courteous, hard workers and responsive to our needs and requests. The crew packed the remainder of our goods and other than some minor dings everything arrived in fine shape. If I had to move/relocate again SEVL would be my first choice.

I wouldn't recommend Southeast Van Lines if you want to move/ship anything of value. Management refused to discuss, or even acknowledge the existence of laws regarding their responsibility in the event of loss or breakage, refused to allow me to buy insurance to that effect, and behaved as if I'd lost my mind on the numerous times I brought up the subject or pointed out line items concerning the above in the contract. I would never have used this company if I had not been in working against a major deadline (my elderly parents had to be moved quickly into nursing care). This kind of bad business practice added another layer of dread and stress to an already difficult day. I will say that my belongings arrived safely, if not in a particularly timely manner, and the work crews on both ends of the move were polite, efficient, and hardworking.
Response by Southeast Van Lines, Inc.: My name is Benjamin David and I'm the manager who assisted this customer. I would like to make a point for the reason this customer is disappointed: Any customer looking to purchase insurance we advise them to have it purchased prior to the scheduled picking up day. This customer ignored numerous notes and requests to do so. At the day of the pick-up, this customer demanded insurance options while the crew was at her house ready to load. Insurance cannot be purchased at that time--all contracts have been signed and this was the source of the problem. I personally explained to this customer it was too late and she said "OK" to me in finishing our conversation. Upon receiving the contract and paperwork, this customer took it upon herself to write personal notes on the contract where insurance signatures are required. Despite this, Southeast Van Lines still proceeded with her move and not cancel the transaction completely simply in order to avoid major inconvenience to the customer. Three and a half months later, this customer finds it necessary to attempt to hurt the company's reputation by putting this negative review even though the move went smoothly, there were no damages, no price difference and an overall very high quality performance by our crews. As much as we are not happy to hear a customer of ours is not happy, we do wish to use this opportunity to advise any future customer of Southeast Van Lines or any other Van Lines for that matter, please communicate with your relocation coordinator and work with him/her, follow the instructions because it can only smooth the process. Remember that the customer has both rights AND responsibilities and it's not possible to always get your way because that's what you want. We are very proud of our strong record and reputation at Southeast Van Lines and we will continue to provide nothing but the best quality service we can for our customers with close attention to details and a polite, professional approach by all crew members involved. Thank you very much, Benjamin David.

What started out well ended badly. The crew was understaffed to pack up and even though it looked like they did a good job when we unpacked it was apparent that stuff was just thrown in boxes to a degree. The driver foreman at the delivery was sitting in the truck smoking while his one person staff did most of the work. When he decided it was time to go even though Lamps, TV and other items were still not unpacked. We had to unpack every box ourselves to find lamps, etc. I can tell you that there is a valid reason why they want cash or cashiers check in hand before they take your stuff off their van. Never had this happen to me in all of my other moves. Would not hire them again. Damaged floors in our new home. Rude and unprofessional. Forgot to mention that they dumped trash in our driveway and the street as they left when we called them on their lack of completion of the job. In addition we were promised an additional check for $200 to hire a handyman to help us unpack. Check never came. Do not trust a man named Ben!
Response by Southeast Van Lines, Inc.: Southeast Van lines executed this move according to the contractual agreement with this customer. We met/exceeded their expectations at the time of pickup and delivery. We were punctual for the pickup and delivery and charged the customer the amount that was agreed upon. What has caused for the negative review was the misunderstanding of the contract agreement. Southeast Van Lines was contracted to move this customers household goods from GA to FL. This included all furniture wrapping/crating, assembly and reassembly of any necessary household goods and full packing services. The customer at the time of delivery expected for Southeast Van lines to also unpack all boxes. 0 Unpacking of boxes is an additional service however this was not discussed at the time the customer met with the estimator nor any time prior to this move?contracts were signed and we executed based on this principle. This expectation could have been accommodated if Southeast Van lines had been made aware beforehand. Upon completion of this delivery, the customer requested the foreman and crew to unpack all boxes. The foreman educated the customer this was not part of the contractual agreement as well as this is not a standard practice customer request. The customer?s wife became disrespectful, condescending and use profanity towards the foreman and crew because they would not unpack the boxes. The customer?s wife contacted Benjamin David and was disrespectful as she yelled, screamed and used profanity to demand we unpack the boxes. Benjamin David made several attempts to de-escalate the situation however the wife was uncooperative. The customer experience and satisfaction is a value to which we hold highly and it is always a concern for us when we have a dissatisfied customer. We are truly sorry and apologetic to these circumstances. We did the job we were contracted to do?again we were punctual on both pickup and delivery; we provided full service packing and all household goods were handled with the upmost professionalism and care. We made several attempts to resolve this during the delivery however despite the attempts the disrespect received from the customer?s wife it is unfair for the review we received. Southeast Van lines mailed a check that was received in good faith to help resolve this misunderstanding and address the customer?s concern with their floor. Our HomeAdvisor rating speaks to the quality of work we deliver and the professionalism we do business.

The original foreman who moved me out pressured me for tips for the workers. I did not tip, the workers were already in the truck, I felt like the tip was going in his pocket. My furniture was in storage for a week, so happens he was the same one who moved me into the new house and I felt obligated to tip the 2nd time around.

I had several items damaged in the move.
Response by Southeast Van Lines, Inc.: We are very sorry to hear . (consumer name withheld per their request) had some damages on his move. We moved (consumer name withheld per their request) twice in March of 2016 and no damage claim was submitted to us then. We would be more than happy to handle any claim like we typically do with any customer of ours through our very professional and friendly claims department.

Great service from estimate to unloading. We felt comfortable dealing with Ben David, and both the packing and unloading teams, led by Jason were hard-working, pleasant and cooperative.
