The owner Brian acted in irresponsible deceptive ways and easily told a couple of very believable lies involving the quality of his painters' work and also a lie about the reason he never returned my calls. He only returned my calls after I threatened to make complaints to BBB and Home Advisor. The work needed to be completely redone. The first and second painter both displayed irresponsible behaviors while on the job adding to my already high stress level. Due to the entire experience I definitely believe the contract was breached.

They did a super-great job. We had water damage on our ceiling. They removed the popcorn texture, repainted, and refinished the water-stained wood beam to look like new.

They were very responsive. I had a couple touch up issues and one misunderstanding about staining the bottom side of an upper level deck. They took care of these items within two days. They offer lots of options for their services as well.

We used the Pueblo branch. Top notch!! Customer service was fantastic and the workers were excellent. We also used their free color consultant. That was an added bonus. If we ever need to paint another house again our first choice is The Paint Doctor.

We were hit hard by a 45 minute hailstorm in July, 2016. It caused major damage to our house, windows, and roof. After going with two other contractors that wasted five months and never showed up to do the work, we called The Paint Doctor. Joe, one of the owners, came out immediately and gave us an estimate that was about a thousand dollars less than the other two contractors. He gave us a reasonable time frame (taking the cold weather and high winds of December into effect). As soon as the weather allowed, his crew was out, working on our house. They did a beautiful job. We changed paint colors, and they had to do a color match which was perfect. And our trim was painted a different color. Then the gutters were installed and the paint crew came back out to paint the downspouts. They were professional, friendly, and went above and beyond in every way. There were no extra charges and the price quoted was the final price. I would highly recommend The Paint Doctor and would definitely call them again should we need fresh paint.

Review by a homeowner in Pueblo, CO
The entire experience was awful-from beginning to end. The crew didn't show up when planned and there was little to no communication from the foreman. The owner promised my house would be painted by professionals, who were background-checked employees of Paint Doctor with 12 or more years of painting experience & what I got was random day workers, everyday a different bunch-some of whom were literally homeless people the foreman had picked up off the street & brought to my home- working around myself and my child. There were disgruntled ex-employees ringing my doorbell, looking for the foreman at all hours of the day and some standing in front of my home, demanding money from & screaming obscenities at the foreman- so loudly my neighbors were coming out of their houses, concerned for mine and their own safety. The majority of the "painters" obviously had no idea what they were doing- and required the foreman to show them how to use the painting equipment and neglected to use tape on my glass windows or even a tarp or drop cloth to cover my belongings when they sprayed & painted- leaving paint on the ground all around the perimeter of my home, on my windows and on a sunroom full of furniture and belongings- which were never cleaned off, even after pointing it out. They didn't even bring their own tools (screwdrivers) to remove fixtures and clean up after themselves (shopvac)- which they asked me to provide. They entered my home without asking to use my restroom- and even painted and ruined my interior door with this EXTERIOR job! They didn't complete the primer application on my brick surfaces before they painted and they used the wrong paint on the wrong surface twice and would have left it, had I not noticed and asked them to fix it. I never felt like I could leave during the 8 days it took them to finish (I was quoted a 3-day job) and ended up having to take time off work. My neighbors complained about the workers and I felt embarrassed to keep the Paint Doctors sign up in my lawn. To top it all off- the foreman asked to be paid before they were even done with the project! When I expressed my concerns to the owner and office, I was referred to the job foreman or was ignored. From the reviews of this company I read prior to hiring them and the ads in local publications, I assumed I would be getting a quality job, but it was definitely not. Maybe the Colorado Springs painting crews that were reviewed are completely different from the crew and foreman I had in Pueblo, or maybe they think Pueblo customers will accept a lesser degree of quality? As a young, new homeowner and a female, I feel taken advantage of and will never recommend The Paint Doctor and have reservations even accepting referrals from in the future as well.

Review by John S. in Castle Rock, CO
The painter was represented by Paint Doctor as qualified, experienced professional in trim and siding replacement, but did not have the knowledge, skills or tools to complete the job correctly. We relied on the recommendation and expertise of Paint Doctor and the painter as to the extent of siding and trim replacement needed. Based on the other errors he made, we question whether he had the experience to make an accurate assessment. Paint Doctor confirmed that an additional 60 boards recommended by the painter for replacement actually did not need replacement. Inspection of work by other professionals demonstrated that the painter did not perform work according to industry standards nor with reasonable care. Our Window contractor and two new Paint Doctor painters all commented on the poor quality of work done by the 1st painter. The painter left areas half-finished and exposed and moved on to new areas of work before fastening down older areas of work. He didn't have right saws for accurate cuts on siding or trim and seemed to be learning as he went. He left large 3/8"-3/4" gaps at edges of some siding and trim. He used caulk and foam to try to hide the gaps in improperly cut boards. He put 10+ nail holes in places trying to find a stud. He constructed the window trim wrong. The 2nd & 3rd crew removed siding and trim and left areas exposed during 2 snowstorms. One trim piece is still missing. Downspouts were removed more than a month ago, and we have had several storms with no downspouts. Paint Doctor proposal specified that "All Work will be performed by experienced master painters, and supervised by a foreman to assure finished work to be first class quality." No foreman provided supervision. Paint Doctor specified that "Sherwin Williams 55-year duration silicon/acrylic caulking would be applied". Paint Doctor used DAP caulk in most areas instead. Paint Doctor specified that "The Paint Doctor will power wash all areas to be painted and allow to dry overnight." A large section of the house and the shed was painted without being power washed, even after we reminded Brian and the painters that it had not been power washed. Paint Doctor specified that "Job site will be cleaned on a daily basis." Boards with nails sticking up were left for weeks, and Paint Doctor used my trash service instead of obtaining a dumpster. Paint Doctor did not maintain a safe worksite with daily cleanup as promised. Paint Doctor management provided inadequate estimating, supervision, oversight and inspection to ensure timely completion and quality work. Brian Wooldridge broke promises that he would regularly visit the job site to assure progress and quality. The job took an unreasonable amount of time for substantial completion (15 weeks). The job had many delays due to crews not showing up as promised or working only a few hours each day. Many weeks the crew worked less than 25 hours. The painter and crew walked off the unfinished job. A new crew did not start work until 5 days later. There is still a substantial amount of painting touchup and trim repair needed. The job was delayed beyond the temperature window recommended by Sherwin Williams - Do not apply at air or surface temperatures below 35° F or when air or surface temperatures may drop below 35°F within 48 hours. We had loss of use and enjoyment of our property due the unsafe work area and the windows and deck being masked off for weeks. We had unnecessary and unhealthy added stress from having to constantly contact Paint Doctor to push to get this completed before winter weather, while my mom was dying in home hospice in November. We will have the additional time and inconvenience of having the improperly done work redone again. We will need to cover the cost of window contractor to redo improperly done window trim to maintain window warranty. We will need to cover cost of the repair of the damages.

Project: Paint, Varnish or Stain Interior Surfaces
We were given an excellent presentation from the owner. He promised us prompt service because we had other contractors coming into the house and we wanted the projects done before the holidays. This was a Wednesday when we received the estimate, and were told the crew could start Monday. The job did not begin until Wednesday without any real answer for being late. The crew did not prime the walls as was recommended by the owner and his decorator. The crew was sloppy, never cleaned their mess up after cleaning up their equipment in our bathroom tub, they left spots on the floor, left some of the doors unfinished, did not paint two of the closets. When the walk through was done with the foreman he made corrections on the ceiling with door paint, leaving glossy patches on the ceiling. I have had to correct runs in the paint, or unfinished doors. I have been very unhappy with this company and I won't be making any referrals.
