Unique A-frame home Roof had algae 3 to 6 inches thick over existing cedar shingles. Roof was approx 47 years old ,was the original roof . We installed new treated heavy cedar wood shingles added new copper flashing , added 6 inch copper strips every 6 to 8 feet and a copper ridge cap to help prevent algae build up . We recommend if you have a cedar roof to clean the roof every 3 to 5 yrs. With diluted zinc or copper powder and water in a low pressure sprayer this will prevent algae build up
