About This Gallery

Kaitlin's room is one for a princess. Her Mom asked that I paint a draped crown above her bed, and this goes completely to the floor. The effect is the feel of fabric draped behind the bed with a diamond crown above. Her Grandma's old vanity was in such good condition, we crackled it and found a stool to finish it off. On a rounded wall we applied a harlequin pattern tufted with buttons, and reupholstered her child size chase lounge in a gold fabric to top off the regal effect.

The quality and skill of the work is excellent, but I find the colors a bit overwhelming and heavy for a little girls' room. Perhaps a heavier duvet and/or bedding covers in velvet and satins might better balance this very regal setting. The current pastel florals conflct rather than complement the majestic look.
