Comment: I have a shallow bedroom closet (approx 20" deep X 72" wide) with a 30" door that only allows access to 1/2 of the total space. I'd like to remove the casing around the existing door, widen the opening (interior, non-structural wall; plaster & lath) to allow for a 60"-wide pair of bi-fold or sliding by-pass doors ( such as an Impact Plus 60"X80") or equivalent. Then install casing to match the other doors/windows in the room and install the door. The floor is hardwood, so a filler or bridge strip will be needed for the length of the opening where the wall has been removed. Casing can be installed primed - I'd like to do final finishing myself. I also have some minor carpentry to modify/reinstall approximately 7' of baseboard trim in a stairway landing. Walls have been replaced with drywall, so the old trim will need replacement/refitting. Thanks! Please contact me with questions.
