Comment: We purchased a brick rancher home in the Alanton neighborhood in Virginia Beach last year. The brick exterior of the home had been painted white (in 2003) prior to our purchasing the home. It seemed fine until this past winter when all of the snow and rain seeped into and beneath the paint and caused several of the bricks to begin spalling. As they did, the paint basically peeled off the house one brick at a time and now it looks awful, especially the chimney exterior. We have been told to just match the paint and paint over the peeled areas, but there must be more to it than that (such as sealing). <br /> <br />We like the white painted brick. I need an estimate on what it will cost to seal, prepare and paint the exterior of our home. And also if it is possible to prevent the spalling to continue. We want to preserve our investment on our home, so we just need some expertise on how to do that. <br /> <br />Thanks!
