We recently moved our entire home, and my business, ~260 miles from where we used to live. We had been moving down in stages using my 32’ cargo trailer. However we were coming up fast on our closing date and I no longer had anyone to help load the trailer at our point of origin as they had already moved to our new location to start new jobs. After a quick search we totally lucked out in finding a moving company, named Arko, that was outstanding and yet *very* reasonably priced. They charged $150 per hr. for a 4-man crew. I had them load my cargo trailer for one run. However there was still a lot left to move after they had loaded my trailer to capacity. I was planning on having to make at least two more trips and still had some *very* heavy items to move. (e.g. Safe, Exercise Equipment, and a very heavy Server Rack…Of course all of these were in the basement.) Fortunately they started suggesting that I get them to do the final move with their own truck instead of me doing multiple more loads. At first I was skeptical based on the quotes I had received when planning our move. However after I heard their quote I jumped on it as all other quotes were *much* more expensive. (By almost $10k.) The plan was to move everything left on a Saturday. However as I was also moving my business, which includes cloud hosting which couldn’t be disconnected for too long, we needed to load the servers last but yet early in the morning on Saturday. Arko suggested that they come out on the prior Thursday to pack everything they could and then they’d leave the truck at our place and come back early Saturday morning to finish loading. Everything went as planned and we were on the road by ~12:30 on Saturday. I was even able to keep my server equipment running at our old location until ~9:30 that Saturday morning. This trip required two stops. We first had to stop at the Data Center where my servers were being relocated. Arko helped get everything needed into the Data Center and patiently waited for me to get it all up and running. We had the servers back online by ~7:00 that evening. We then headed to our new home which was an additional 30 minutes away and miles down some *very* twisty and hilly roads. We arrived at our new house ~7:30 and were unloading by ~8:00 as we had to figure out the best way to position the truck for an easy offload. I also had some items in my cargo trailer so we worked together to determine the best placement of both vehicles. As I mentioned, it was a very large load but the Arko crew not only put everything where we asked but also assembled essential things for us. (e.g. Beds.) They weren’t done until ~2:15 in the morning. However the entire time they remained easy to work with and maintained a very good sense of humor. We purchased an Angie's List deal for a 3 men crew for $360 for the first 3 hours that would include arrival fee and discharge fee. Each hour after the first 3 was $120 per hour. There were some surprising fees like packing tape at $3/roll used to tape the blankets around the furniture and the fee for the 3rd floor ($70). Communication during the scheduling process was limited, as Arthur was difficult to get ahold of because he does not have a secretary and he can't answer the phone when carrying heavy objects during a move. Emails would get answered in 24-36 hours. Further, their punctuality was a little lacking. They were supposed to be to the apartment at 9am. I didn't hear from them until 10am saying they were running late because of traffic, and they would be to us by 10:30am. This was frustrating because they should've known there would be traffic and planned accordingly, and they should've called at 9am to give us a heads up. It also would've been nice if they discounted something because of their late arrival. Nevertheless, once they arrived, and the clock started, the three of them worked very hard and fast to get all of our furniture out and down the two flights of stairs to the truck. They were also very good at navigating around corners and didn't hit a wall once! They were able to pack up the apartment in 2.5 hours, drive to our new house in 1 hour, and have us unloaded in 1 hour. We were very impressed on how fast and yet gentle they were during the move. They also helped us lift our china cabinet from a previous purchase that was already at the house. They definitely did not try and waste our time. Therefore, we definitely would recommend their services, but I would just caution you to be patient with scheduling and with their arrival. We appreciate the hard work they put in on that hot May day.
