I wrote a previous review and gave them 5 stars...now that I am in the phase of permits and getting bids for the Job I can truly rate them. Every contractor I had look at my drawings stated: 1) They were not to code 2) The building was poorly designed 3) Items that were critical to the construction were not even included such as a wall to hold up the building. When I went to pull the permit I was told they would not give me one based on the drawings which I paid $2,700 for...now I am having to hire another architect for $2,000 to make all of the required changes so I safe building can be constructed. The person in the permit office said this is typical for Ace and also told us they did drawings for our library which cost the city millions to adjust for...STAY AWAY...you have been warned. Comments: I just read the comments that ACE made and some items to note. 1) When I sent the drawing out for bid I was told that the drawing were incomplete, as they were missing a wall to support the structure steel. - Their design and engineering was not complete. 2) I found out, after getting my drawings, that they have a reputation for doing poor work. 3) I reached out to ACE a number of times to get things corrected and they did not return my call. 4) My budge was for 500K, so I am not sure what is meant that I did not budget enough for a 6,000 sq foot garage with living space. 5) To this date no one from ACE has tried to contact me regarding my questions or my review, but they have called others regarding this problem so cover themselves. 6) This is not the first construction project where I have build a home with an Architect. I am very aware of the process, unfortunately ACE is not a company that understands this process. 7) Luckily these issues were identified to me by those bidding the job before we moved forward and was able to hire a different Architect to fix ACE's drawings before construction began, unfortunately this cost me an addition $2,000 in design engineering review.
Response by Ace Design Group, LLC: (consumer name withheld per their request) was easy to work with in the beginning. However, his expectations compared to his budget seemed to differ. After speaking with officials he is referencing in this review, it seems that (consumer name withheld per their request) was taking our drawings, which were designed by code and specs and by our licensed and professional structural engineer and removed sheets and hand drew his own "version" of foundation plans to cut construction costs. When I spoke to the officials about what had happened, they told (consumer name withheld per their request) that the plans were not on our title block and would not be accepted because he is not an engineer nor did he call our firm, as suggested by the official, to make any changes or discuss any possible changes to the plans for value engineering of the project. I feel that (consumer name withheld per their request)' review is unfair and unjust due to his own lack of due diligence in the budgeting phase of his project. However, we would be glad to continue discussion and work with him to see his project come to fruition. (consumer name withheld per their request) Thank you for your input Larry. It's been very helpful.
