We have been proudly serving Denver, Boulder and the surrounding metro areas for over 50 years! At Applewood EVERY technician is licensed, background checked & drug tested. When using Applewood, customers receive a picture and short bio of the technician dispatched to their home. We will fix your problem RIGHT, the first time, at an approved, up-front price. After your appointment, we follow up with a phone call to make sure your appointment went just as you expected. We are open 6AM to 10PM, 7 days a week to serve you at your convenience with NO OVERTIME CHARGES.

Install, Replace or Repair a Main Water Pipe

A simple project that I supplied the parts for. I wanted to bring in a plumber because I was concerned about a brass-to-plastic pipe connection for a water pressure reduction valve. I did not want to crack the plastic pipe. Shame on me; I should not have accepted. It was overpriced to connect two ends of a pipe and reconnect with my replacement part. Honestly, it was so expensive that I am embarrassed to say what it cost. I did ask what the cost would have been if I had not supplied the part: $1,600. I bought the part for $110. That is an extreme markup for a business. When Applewood customer service contacted me afterward and I complained about the price, I was told they were not trying to be the cheapest, just the best. That may well be, but I do not think the best experience should leave the customer feeling ripped off and taken advantage of. I will not be using them again for anything.

Technician was very, very polite and respectful. Did great work. Price was a little high, but I couldn't afford not having it done right the first time, so the extra cost was worth it.

Please do not hire this company. I totally got ripped off. Installer did not have the correct parts so I had to go to Lowe while he waited at my house. Paid off $1000 to install a garbage disposal and sink faucet for a newly installed countertop. If it was not my daughter birthday party the next day, I would have never agreed to pay this much. Do not waste your time and money on this company.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
