Project: Install Vinyl or Linoleum Sheet Flooring or Tiles
Fred did an excellent job of replacing some damaged vinyl tiles in my kitchen. Baila was very good about confirming my appointment and getting back to me.

Project: Install Carpeting
They're definitely not the cheapest option, but amazingly fast turnaround and they delivered exactly what was promised well ahead of expectations, so it's worth every penny. I'll definitely be using them again for my next project.

Project: Install or Completely Replace Wood Flooring
Engineered hardwood flooring was installed on the first and second floors of my home last year. I hired this company based largely upon the recommendation of Home Advisor. After removing the pre-existing carpeting and padding, no inspection of the substrate was carried out. The Project Manager assigned to this job never visited my home while the work was being carried out. The objective of the installers was to slap the wood down as quickly as possible. They were cutting and chipping boards with a dull saw blade, which I made them replace. They installed base boards and caulking over damaged wall sections without repairing them. I was charged for skim-coating, which they initially refused to do. I was charged for levelling with Portland Cement, which they did not do. I was charged for the services of a Project Manager who was never showed up during installation. I now have several loud squeaks on the second floor and steps and boards are detaching from the slab on the first floor. I have had this job evaluated by an independent NWFA inspector and his conclusion is that installation guidelines/requirements were not followed and ALL wood flooring must be removed and replaced. Obviously, I'm not happy with this work. In an attempt to coerce me into submitting final payment, the owner of Baila filed an interest-accumulating lien against my property. This is a nightmare, and I deeply regret hiring this company.
Response by Baila Floors: Mr. P (consumer name withheld per their request), As have been the case with you throughout this experience, you have the ability to be very inaccurate with the "truth". The lien was filed against your home and the project because you have failed to pay your balance owing for over six months now. California contracting law requires that we file a lien in order to secure our interest in the property. Further, from the outset, I have offered to meet and rectify any issues that we failed to address - you have not allowed us to do so and the report that was provided is inaccurate. Our last exchange a few weeks ago you indicated that you would provide a final report. I made it clear that we would review the final report and will likely request our own independent report as the report that was furnished went beyond the scope of any issues that was previously reported by you. I think we have been very reasonable, but you have continued to do this type of communicating, even though you have yet to pay for your project.

Project: Install Wood or Stone Laminate Flooring
I am still trying to get my project completed. Extremely slow. Work quality is just "OK". They are extremely prompt and very professional in signing up for work. Would not recommend if you have a timeline for your project.

Beware, Baila reneged on their own written contract. They applied 3 of 4 contracted for coatings, skipping most important urethane top coat and demanded additional $250 to do forgotten 4th coat. Baila insisted they furnished and installed plywood and thin set skim coating to subfloor. Neither was done. I fought this to their ultimate agreement it was not done. We lost all confidence In Baila, short paid them $250, and paid for job completion by a competent professional. Baila used subcontractor. Forget Baila. Go with an actual contractor.
Response by Baila Floors: Philip, I couldn't disagree more with your comments. Your quote clearing states that we would apply 3 coats of finish, which we did. We are always happy to apply additional costs of urethane when requested; however, this is additional labor and material cost that we charge clients. Additionally, in cases where we provide a quote for material that is not used, we always refund those costs. We wouldn't expect to do work without charging for it - for example additional costs of urethane, and we wouldn't expect our clients to pay for work that was not performed. The only reasonable thing to do!
