This job involved refinishing existing red oak (about 500 sq. ft.) and putting in new hardwood in place of carpet in one additional room (150 sq. ft.). The house was unoccupied at the time. Rich was an absolute pleasure to work with and the quality of every aspect of his work was top-notch.. He is great at communication - prompt responses, pleasant and patient at explaining things, and always showed up on time when we had an appointment to meet at the house. Plus he clearly really knows his woods and finishes and how to properly prep and apply them. He laid out samples of several finishes and color mixes on sanded patches of floor so we could see how they would really look. We ended up going with a newer oil/wax finish called Rubio Monocoat, and the end result is just gorgeous. The way it brings out the contrasts in the grain of the wood makes you feel like you're walking around on a work of art, and it's silky smooth to walk on. Two area of the existing hardwood were damaged and had to be replaced, and you cannot tell where Rich put in the new boards. While the work was going on, the rest of the house was completely masked off with plastic sheeting, so none of the fine dust from sanding could get into the other rooms or the ventilation system. When the job was done, he actually reduced his final invoice by $500 because a certain task in the original quote turned out to be unnecessary. Overall we could not be happier with the outcome or the process for getting there.

The entire project-very old and damaged hardwood floors were replaced, repaired, and refinished under time and on budget. Dust, noise, and debris was minimal and furnishings were protected from dust.
