Project: Repair Natural Gas or Propane Furnace / Forced Air Heating System
Mongi was very professional when working to fix my furnace the first time. My wife and I were very happy with the work he did on fixing the furnace that we also asked him to install a new water less tank and the work was done professionally. He came when he said he would come and worked on it right away. He has also provided me with good tips for maintenance. The work was done promptly and his estimation of the time of the work was pretty good. I would recommend him to other friends that I know because we were happy with the work. Whatever he quoted me as the price is what was the expected cost with no additional hiccups you may find from some other contractors. Given the communication he has with his customers also puts me at ease that if I have to call him for any questions he will promptly respond.

Project: Repair a Natural Gas, Propane or Electric Fired Boiler or Radiator Heating System
Mongi is very service oriented and the problem was resolved quickly. I received a call from him within minutes of submitting the job on line to HomeAdvisor. He came on a Friday and was back the next day to install the replacement part. Cost was reasonable and competitive. I would recommend him and plan to keep his number handy for future repairs or projects.

Mr Chortani was incredibly responsive and came within a few hours to fix our central Air unit. He offered advice on expanding our unit to a neighboring apt we are buying and came up with a few solutions that are significantly cheaper than what we imagined.

Project: Repair a Natural Gas, Propane or Electric Fired Boiler or Radiator Heating System
After HomeAdvisor suggested 3 plumbers in my area for the problem I had with my boiler, Mr. Chortani called me immediately. Although it was at night and after working hours. He stayed with me on the phone until he identified exactly what the problem was. He gave me a quote which was fare and scheduled me for the repair the very next day. As he completed the repair on boiler he discovered that a transformer burned ( something unrelated to my original problem). He replaced the Transformer at no extra cost . In short I bereave not only he is very good at what he does, he has a great character. He is fair, punctual, respectful, and honest. I would strongly recommend him.

Review by Angelo R. in Brooklyn, NY
Project: Repair a Natural Gas, Propane or Electric Fired Boiler or Radiator Heating System
On his first visit he claimed that the problem was the thermal coupling so he changed the thermal coupling and that was not the problem. Miss diagnosis #1. Than he said it was the gas valve that was defective, so he had me buy a new gas valve at a cost of $177.00. That was not the problem so miss diagnosis #2. Then he said the problem was the piece that regulates the flue damper so he had me buy a new flue damper for $110.00 and after buying that part he said that it was not the flue damper (miss diagnosis #3) then he said that I needed a new boiler therefore diagnosis #4. Either this technician is the most incompetent boiler technician and therefore his near 5 star rating is completely bogus, or those reviews giving him a near 5 star rating are completely made up. I suggest that Home Advisor conducts a verification of each review to make sure that these are real reviews, with real customers behind those reviews.
Response by Chortani Services Hvac: I responded to a service call for a steam boiler not providing heat. No flame was present in the furnace. I initiated a step by step process to the restore boiler’s function. The thermo coupling and gas valve regulator/ cut off must be functioning properly to restore boiler function. It is wise to replace a thermo coupling as regular maintenance, anytime there is a boiler failure and more complex work is required, as in this case. I restored boiler function with the gas valve replacement. The client informed me that very evening that the boiler failed to sustain function. I returned the following morning and examined a faulty flue damper, remaining in the open position and failing to properly close upon the demand of the system controls. It wasreplaced as a possible cause of the boiler cut off. Since the above components were restored to working order, I remained at the location to observe the boiler’s operation. It reached its functional temperature and shut down, after 30 minutes. I was able to observe a steam leak after the boiler reached full operating temperature prior to cut off. It would be impossible to make such an observation until the listed components were functional. Replacement of the gas valve and damper were essential to diagnostics. The steam leak indicated a cast iron crack and mandatory replacement of the boiler. These step by step procedures are all standard mechanical protocol. The negative feedback suggests an inappropriate and misinformed response on the part of the client. Furthermore, the erroneous suggestion that prior feedback and the “Home Advisor” format is somehow illegitimate and falsely manufactured, is a direct attack on a very reliable internet based service to home owners. Home Advisor allows the free and unfettered posting of client views without coercion. Suggestinga healthy body of feedback as “manufactured” or false, unfairly impunes Home Advisor itself, exposing the views and disposition of this client as biased, unfair and invalid. Charging a mere $250 in labor for 6 hours of my time, with the client opting to purchase parts directly from the distributor, I offered the client the most flexible means of pursuing a diagnostic course to completion. Such costs were the most reasonable means, given a clear lack of proper maintenance on an aging boiler. I offered the client every available technique to work with his old equipment, instead of simply declaring it obsolete, in an attempt to reduce his costs. The client stopped the checkwithout notice, leaving me with no compensation for my efforts. His comments and action convey a biased and ungracious lack of basic understanding.
