They did a great job on the roof, but the cleanup wasn't as good as promised. I did find one item on the bill that needed to be adjusted. Overall, a good experience.

I called Command Roofing, Scott/salesman came out. We really liked him a lot. We had another bid, but liked Scott and what he said best. But we have a Gambrel roof, and I wanted them to know this was not just a 'normal roof'. I sent them emails with photos, to make sure they knew what they were getting into, and they ignored me. I called them for a date, never got one. They said "about 6 weeks", and when I called week 7 they said it's coming, that's all. Then the materials showed up, unannounced, still no date set. Could not communicate with anyone there, even Scott. Finally when they did show up , they were all shocked and awed to find it was "a barn roof", Sean, owner, didn't even know the correct term for the roof, and now he was flustered, it was going to be more than he expected, because he can't communicate or listen. I showed him some fascia board we wanted replaced, and he said, "Sure, about $300." I said, "shouldn't we put this in writing?", and he acted as if that was silly, I should take his word for it. The contract called for removing/replacing the sheathing down to the rafters, "Remove tear off, haul & dispose of all material", but they didn't do that, they only removed about half. I was actually okay with that, considering it looked like they'd screwed up on the bid; their problem, not mine. But then they sent another invoice with $1000.00 added to the original. I paid them the contract price, plus the $300 I verbally agreed to, and they sent me another bill for $700.00 more. This was not agreed to, and I'm not paying it. The workers who showed up were all Mexican, worked like dogs 2 13 hours/days in 105 degree temps, did great work, but left the yard trashed overnight. We have 3 dogs so had to walk them around on leashes so they wouldn't step on all of the nails and debris. Contract states, "Pay special attention to clean up Magnet yard everyday for nails". The roof seems fine, but Scott had little to do with it. It was sold to us by someone else, and installed by someone else, and now Scott wants $700.00 more than a contract price he wrote and I signed. I'd rate higher, I'd be fine, if they weren't billing for something we did not agree to. I didn't contract for added hassle with small claims court, which is where he'll have to go. He may put a mechanics lien on my house, we'll see. But if he doesn't drop it within a week I'll also file a complaint at the contractor registrars office. He didn't even have the courtesy to call and 'ask' if he could charge more than he agreed to. Now his crew foreman, Jose', he was very good.

As it turned out we did not repairs at this time. However the contractor did discover a problem with the venting of the bathroom fan and is going to repair that for us. He was very good at communicating when he would be here and was very timely, courteous and made an overall great impression.
