Review by Robert B. in Holtsville, NY
If there was less than 0 stars that is what I would rate this business and my experience. We hired Jack to install a tile floor and within the first few hours of the job his crew completely ruins the job. He ensured us he would use spacers, a level, and even leveling clips. His employee started out using none of these and laid almost the entire kitchen before I had to tell him to stop and use them. The next day Jack did not bring that employee back and he tried to fix some of the tile but they were laid so poorly the grout lines were difficult to look at and some of the tiles were trip hazards. After two days of allowing him to try and fix them the floor looked a little better but there were still issues with the tile being laid down. His team also burst a pipe when moving our dishwasher and water poured from the kitchen into the walls and into the bathroom and a bedroom. After cleaning it up, Jack fixed the copper pipe with a sharkbite fitting which is not really the best way to seal a copper pipe. You are supposed to solder it, but he did not have a plumber on his team. We continued experiencing water problems in our bathroom and he insisted it was not due to his work. Well after he told us the job would be done no later than the Friday before Easter he made up some excuses and said it would need to be finished Tuesday (three days after the contract date). He also said he would use rapid dry thinset in the kitchen so we could have it back on day 2. That never happened. We said this would be fine if it was just minor touch ups, but then he said he might not finish until Wednesday and when he left on Friday for Easter his employee left our sink full of dirty towels from the grout and they were using the sink with the buckets. I wish I could show the picture. This was unbelievable as I have never had an experience where a contractor used our kitchen sink and in this case the grout could have gone into our pipes and solidified there. Long story short he ended up quitting on Tuesday and walking off the job and even though we tried to give him the opportunity to finish over contract date. Afterwards we opened up the dry wall behind the bathroom and found the sink drain pipe (2-inch diameter) was completely pulled out of the main drain line. This meant everything we were flushing down the sink was pouring into the wall by the bathroom and when the water level raised over the base 2 by 4 on the cement it then went into our bathroom. The amount of force to remove that pipe must have been extraordinary and there is really no way it could not have been someone on his team who caused that issue. We also had some work done on our stairs. He said he was a carpenter by trade and fixing the stairs would be easy. Well he could not do that either and ended up bracing them just to make them safe but only after making one of the steps crooked. We also recently found out he does not have a valid license under his business name. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
