I found Dryer Vent Wizard on HomeAdvisor. They responded to my inquiry almost immediately, and arranged to have a team come that same day. Problem was, I explained my exact problem and told them where the vent was located (on the second floor). I was given a quote to clean the vent and to install a new outdoor vent cover. When the team arrived (they were on time and very nice), they proceeded to show me their pricing list, which was significantly higher than what i was quoted. I told them that, to which they said, "they always do that on the phone. They don't look at the price sheet." I had no choice at that point, so I agreed to the work. What was supposed to cost approximately $200 ended up costing in excess of $325. I'm pleased with the work, but I definitely had a major feeling of "bait and switch."

This is the best estimate we can provide until we perform our inspection of your dryer vent. Often times, additional repairs or sometimes complete replacement of the vent line is necessary to restore the dryer vent to safe and efficient condition. At no time are prices guaranteed from a phone estimate. We are glad that you received timely and professional service from our technician, and was provided with upfront pricing given after inspection, and prior to commencing any service that you approved.

Showed up on time (actually early), did a great job. Went above and beyond to ensure the dryer vent system was up to code and safe. Probably prevented a fire. Grateful for their work and commitment to quality.
