I'd never used Home Advisor before, and was skeptical of it--but we needed a surveyor NOW to establish a property line in the middle of a home sale--barely 2 days from closing. Credit to my wife--she's the one that tried HA, and it was a home run: Joel was on the job almost immediately and came with a great attitude--professional, yet easy-going, and deftly handled a couple highly-stressed customers. As a former forester I have a working knowledge of surveying, and Joel and his son Jack did an excellent job: had a plat map of the disputed line to us within 24 hours (I hope I'm not setting a high bar here!), walked us through all the details of the survey and history of the area, and then heavily pinned the line for me to facilitate a minor fence relocation that is necessary. The back of his tee-shirt said "surveyors exceeding your expectations" and Joel sure as heck delivered on that!

Joel quick to respond, worked me into his schedule. He located the property line corners, and in stalled surveyor caps. And also a full size map with driveway and setback measurements. It made it so much easier during installation of a fence project along two neighbors property lines. In my case, the pins were either missing, or on the same spot they were placed 30 years ago. Also he located the easement for both right of way and Public utilities. Easy to work with, and quick. He used the latest GPS equipment, and took many extra data points, including block wall locations, driveways. at the end,

I wish my experience was like everybody else who has worked with Joel, but it was far from reviews I've read. He is a nice enough guy, but wasn't able to deliver on his promises. Based on all the glowing reviews, I hired Joel to do a boundary survey to put up a new block wall, but he was unable to complete the job due to technical difficulties he could not resolve. I am ok with that part, the part that bothered me most was that I was repeatedly promised callbacks with status updates and several times I left voicemails and sent emails which went unanswered. I never had any idea what was going on with the survey because updates were not provided when promised. This went on for close to a month. There were also several instances where there was no answer at his phone number and his voicemail box was full. Not very professional in my opinion. All that he needed to do was be honest and tell me he couldn't do the job, but it was weeks before he finally admitted it. I ended up contacting another survey company that was very responsive and was able to come out the very next morning. They located 2 of my property corner monuments, then had my other 2 property corners marked with new monuments the same day they came out. My property map was delivered the very next week. That's the kind of service I was hoping for, but did not get from Joel. Sorry but I cannot recommend this business to anybody.
