Eric Monteith PE

Thank you for considering me. You might not be happy to need the services of an engineer but when you have a problem, you need to know steps to fix the problem. I keep it simple & explain the issues. In most cases, I like to make same day appointments if possible. I am willing to discuss over the phone but contact me thru here only if you are ready to hire, due to poor refunding on my paid bad leads. Search me and contact me directly. Currently focusing on residential foundations, soil bearing, grading, runoff, and structural concerns. I am not currently signing off any MAJOR construction not under my design or completed structures that were built without proper permit application, inspections and certificates of occupancy. Oversights, various missed inspections and issues outside the scope of the building code during typical construction are always welcome. FHA, VA, HUD, USDA, Industrial and commercial issues not requiring NC Appendix B are welcome. Stay here to hire my consultation.

Mr. Monteith was hired to determine what structural defects my small house had that might be able to be addressed. While I appreciated the confined space of my crawlspace (it is no more than 30*34) high at any point and was significantly shorter in some areas, I had expected him to crawl under the house to get a fuller idea of the issues I was dealing with. Unfortunately, he was physically limited in doing so and made a report from what could be seen from what a strong-beamed flashlight showed from the crawlspace door and the house exterior. Nonetheless, his report was relatively thorough and addressed the areas he had described to me as presenting structural issues in the future and what could be done now. I would recommend his services with some reservation: the physical challenges that limit his ability to fully inspect a problem.

In a 4-apartment structure there had developed two unrelated defects: a failure in the foundation of the structure and a sizable sinkhole in a corner of the parking lot. Eric assessed, recommended a process of remediation, and even arranged for a contractor to look at the situation and effect the remedies. His assessment was more thorough and his recommendations were more extensive, simpler, and clearly superior to those of another engineer who investigated and reported on the same defects. His report was clear, concise, and admirably professional. He is an excellent engineer.
