Write a ReviewBroke 11 items and lost a ladder. Said one driver for my item. A full load. It was a transfer of one truck to another and driver showed up with 2 loads. I have moved 9 times since 1987 due to my work. This was the worse.
Their price changed when they arrived to pick up, so i had no other option, I took then since I could not back out. Upon delivery 7 boxes were missing. They arrived at my home, had me sign, before they started unloading, then when I say boxes were missing, I was told file with the company. DO NOT HIRE THEM THEY ARE AWFUL. LOTS OF MY STUFF WAS BROKEN, WE DID NOT REALIZE UNTIL I STARTED OPENING BOXES. I CALLED I WAS TOLD FILE WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THEY USES ENTERPRISE TRUCKS TO MOVE, SO THEY EMPTIED THE TRUCKS A FEW TIMES. WHICH MEANS THEY BROKE STUFF AND MISPLACED STUFF.
GM Van Lines ended up taking some of our valuables. I would not trust them with another move or recommend them to anyone.
I received an email on Saturday afternoon notifying me that they could no longer come on Monday, July 19, 2021, which was my scheduled moving date with them. I booked a month ago. David stated GM needed to come a day early, but the crew would help me finish packing up. They would not charge for labor just materials. The cost to me ended up over $800! The salespersonâ s estimate was extremely incorrect. The cost over doubled. Never will I move again without having a representative come to the residence prior to moving. The foreman came into my home and said they would told it was going to be a much smaller job. He contacted David and my quote went from a price by weight to a fixed price. David from GM told the foreman twice to unload the contents of the truck and leave everything on my driveway! This man was completely unprofessional and a bully to boot! Can you imagine this poor crew being told this after three hours of loading. The second time that David threatened this was at the end. I asked for a bike and a bbq to be added. David said it would be an additional $300. This occurred after I was told that the truck was dead. It would not start. David told Tito to unload the truck to which Tito replied, **I cant, bossman, the hydraulic lift will not go down.** How comfortable did I feel at this point? The truck was loaded but the truck would not start. I had to jump start their truck with my cables and my car. David represented this company poorly in my opinion. The matter in which he treated me as a customer and his crew was deplorable. David made zero concessions. I asked for a ten percent discount, the removal of the $300 for the bike and the bbq, and for the 4% credit card fee to be waived. To my knowledge, he only agreed to the removal of the 4%. In addition, they arrived without stickers to label the contents of my home and take a complete inventory. They ran out. Ask questions. Get everything in writing. Do not take anything you are told verbally as accurate. I certainly wish I had done so with their sales representative. Make them come to your residence and personally give a quote to you. There was a lot of miscommunication between myself and their salesperson. On a positive note, the crew was great! If you use GM, I highly recommend using Tito, Clifton, Marcus, and Will. As of July 24, 2021 I have still not received an inventory list. I would encourage the owner to review all phone conversations between all parties as they record them for this purpose.
All my possessions were treated like trash. It was a miracle that nothing was destroyed!
I would never recommend this company. Their approach was a bait and switch. They quoted me a price and then when they arrived for the pickup they added all kinds of additional costs that were never quoted or discussed. The on site leader tried to change the terms of the move and charge me more, after extensive discussion and him calling the main office did he return to the terms of the signed contract. They are a dishonest company, use low costs to sign you up and then work to change the terms at the time you have no other choice.

My wife and I are retired from the DoD and have moved many times. GM Van Lines provided one of the best moving experiences from beginning to end. Excellent communication throughout the process and excellent crews at pack out and delivery.
GREAT COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH. GREAT PRICE TO DO HEAVY HOME MOVE. EMPLOYEES WORK HARD.
