Project: Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof
The company was recommended to me by my realtor, a person I trust. It was a great recommendation and the firm was able to come within a week which was important as I was putting the house on the market. Extremely polite and professional workers and they performed a thorough cleanup after completing the work.
Response by Grace Roofing, LLC: It was a pleasure to work with you Chris and a big thank you to Nancy as well!

They did excellent work and it was done in just 2 days. No mess left behind and after several months needed a cap on a pipe and theyà ¢à  à  re coming back to do that for us. Rey nice people who took time to listen to our needs and concerns. We love the roof appearance wise and for the difference with snow buildup which has always been a problem.
Response by Grace Roofing, LLC: We love installing metal roofs for this reason, they are simply amazing for our upstate weather! It was so nice to work with you!

Project: Install or Replace a Flat, Foam or Single Ply Roof
I had a great experience with Giles. It was great to work with the owner who is a woman. I didn't feel uncomfortable or stupid asking questions. She was extremely knowledgeable and thorough. The workmen did a great job with the clean up and they even got the work permits to do the job. Highly recommended.
Response by Grace Roofing, LLC: Thank you! It was a joy working with you!

Project: Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof
November, 2016 Giles / GB General Construction installed a new roof. Immediately, documented issues with the roof arose: - banging and rattling noises which continued for months - shingles and ridge vent blew off every section of the roof, multiple times, over many months - the banging noises were the wind picking up the shingles and then slapping back down on the roof deck; this continued for weeks, until the shingles ripped off the roof - in at least one spot (where the leak was) the shingles did not blow off, but were damaged due to bending up and back down, in the wind - shingles lipped down, out of line with other shingles - after shingles tore off one section 4 times, Giles put a tarp on that area, in February 2017, stating they would replace that entire section of the roof when the weather was warmer they never did - 2 drip edge was replaced with 1, allowing the metal fascia to pop out from under the drip edge, allowing water to penetrate the wood and structure - the rattling noises were the metal fascia, now loose due to the too short drip edge, banging against the structure - the roof edge on the ends looked like torn paper, not a clean, straight cut - an inordinate amount of nails were visible on the roof and ridge vent (none should be visible) - in the spring, a leak occurred (not near the section with the tarp) - nails were not completely driven into the roof preventing proper sealing and resulting in shingles bulging up - the roof looked bumpy and lumpy - Giles did not obtain a permit to perform roof work, as required by the town - view pictures on my giles roof period the ususal At first, Giles responded promptly and replaced the blown off shingles. Then things slowed down and they left concerns unanswered. It took Giles one month to look at the leak and address shingles over that area of the house. This was in April 2017 and that is when the foreman was asked when the section with the tarp would be replaced. He could not say if or when, but made it a point to state the company had lost money on this job. Giles never addressed the rattling fascia, stating it was not their responsibility. In June 2017, CertainTeed, the shingle manufacturer, took shingles from the roof and tested the shingles. CertainTeed determined that the shingles were not faulty. The ongoing issues with the roof were a result of faulty workmanship, not an issue with the shingles themselves. An expert roof consultant was hired to evaluate the roof. Conclusion: the entire roof was installed wrong and would need to be completely redone. Another opinion was sought, a certified CertainTeed installer, who concluded the same. Giles would not take responsibility for their faulty workmanship, despite providing a 5-year warranty in the contract. An insurance claim with Giles insurance was filed, and denied. As a homeowner, protecting the home from the elements is of utmost concern. Therefore, although the issue with Giles was unresolved, the roof was replaced. This time b
Response by Grace Roofing, LLC: (consumer name withheld per their request) we are truly sorry you feel it is necessary to bully our company on every public site that is available to you. A simple conversation and functioning communication could have solved this for you however you chose this route so for those looking to use our services please feel free to see below our concerns regarding this couples actions and honesty. On October 3rd, 2016 Ms. Arlt contacted us for a complimentary roof evaluation and quote. After our inspection of her roof it was clear due to shingles that were lifting, peaking, granular loss and missing shingles with exposed felt her roof had reached its? lifecycle and was in need of replacement. On October 5th, 2016 we provided (consumer name withheld per their request) with a roof replacement quote/contract. We provided her with 2 options and suggested she go with the Pro Shingle (50YR. Warranty) since the area her home was in was in a high wind location, this would have provided a heavier shingle and a longer warranty. During the first week in November we received a signed contract and a check for 50% deposit. We do not require deposits to be mailed in advance as our contract states 1 day prior to job installation. She also chose to go with the lower grade (40 YR.) product which was not as heavy nor fitting for the home?s location but less expensive. We scheduled the roof to be installed on 11.14.16, she agreed to this date. We had a weather delay the following week and asked if we could install it one week later starting on 11.21.16. We then installed the roof according to manufacturer?s specifications on the week of 11.21.16 as we are certified with Certainteed (The Manufacturer). We then received approximately 4 ? 6 concerned emails/calls between the months of December and February where 1 section of her roof kept having shingles blow off (Rear Garage Section) after strong wind-storms in her home?s location. We responded every time within 24 hours to her concerns and immediately re-installed the shingles. After the second call regarding the same section blowing off I informed Ms. (consumer name withheld per their request) that we as a company would like to replace this section as we felt the shingles never appropriately set up and fused as they should have and stated we would do this at no cost. We also advised her that this needed to be done during a 60+ degree day and that we would be happy to deal with the service calls related to this one section through the winter as needed and eventually tarped it so she did not need to worry. She agreed to this process. One week later I received an email stating she had published a website in our company name (a NYS Trademark we hold in our name) with public defamation and pictures/complaints of our work. She also stated she wanted $13K + returned to her immediately or the website would remain up (Blackmail). In addition to this her husband under the pretense of a false name tried to fraudulently gain infor

My experience with Giles Construction was absolutely wonderful!! Guinevere Giles is very knowledgeable about her business and the product and service her company provides. Her quote for my roofing job was very reasonable, and the job was scheduled in a timely fashion. The Giles crew were professional as well as efficient. The job was completed in one day and the clean-up was perfect. I really can't say enough about how very pleased I am with this job, and I would highly recommend hiring Giles Construction for any roofing needs. Thank you Guinevere and Crew!

Great experience with Giles. The roof that needed replacing was a rental property quite away from us. Everything was done on the computer. The cost was reasonable and customer service fantastic. Pictures were sent and we have also seen the roof in person. Great job. Would hire again. Highly recommend this company
Response by Grace Roofing, LLC: Barbara, You were so great to work with and the roof looks beautiful!
