Hill Country Building & Renovation

Most disappointing experience of my life. My husband and I chose HCBR because of Mr. Calvin promise of quality work. We was not mind if his bid was not the lowest, because we were assured by Mr. Calvin that the work would be done right. We got everything but quality work and soon learned that the reason Mr. Calvin bid was so high was because the workers had to redo tasks multiple times because they were not completed correctly the first time. Nobody (including Mr. Calvin) took any pride in their work. Painters were definitely not professionals and did a very sloppy job. They got paint on new flooring, windows, hinges, door knobs, switch plates, switches, and applied the wrong type of paint to the wrong surfaces (painted the ceiling with trim paint). Electricians left dead switches, installed plugs boxes that came out of the wall, and installed a plug for a tv in a brick fireplace that did not work. Piles of trash and debris were left laying around our property and on our porch for weeks because Mr. Calvin had the dumpster removed weeks before the end of the project. Workers were negligent in protecting existing surfaces and damaged a sink that they did not cover. We were informed over and over again that workers or subcontractors were showing up at a specific day and time and they always showed up days or weeks later (or never came at all). If I could have given 0 stars in all categories I would have.

Because of the drainage on our lot, we discovered during the last heavy rains that the installed drain pipe was not quite big enough to handle all the rain runoff. I called Calvin and he responded back in a timely manner. Within three weeks of me calling him, he had evaluated the situation, had his crew come over and made the necessary adjustments. I really appreciated the fact that he responded quickly to my call and even though he was busy with other projects, found the time to address the matter. Hill Country Building and Renovation is a class act!

Calvin remodeled my kitchen and bathrooms. I was beyond happy with the result. Calvin came every day and worked every day finishing the project in a timely manner. He can do it all! Electrical, Plumbing, Framing, Drywall, Tile, and more. I have an older home and there were some unexpected problems which he solved easily at minimal expense. I trusted him completely! I could leave for hours and had no worries. I would hire him again in a second!

Calvin Paulsen was efficient, and helpful with this project. There were some minor problems, but in the end, everything turned out the way we envisioned. I would use Hill Country Building & Renovation again in the future for our next project.

They were terrific and Calvin is great.
