Project: Hire a Handyman
Tim was very accommodating and prompt in his replies. He fit us into his busy schedule without delay. We needed him to put up some heavy shelves and a heavy duty pot rack for our copper pots. We happened to have furniture delivered that day and he helped mount the dressing table mirror as well, though it wasn't part of the original list of tasks. His work was well done and professional- not sloppy or rushed at all! And throughout the process he was very friendly and pleasant to work with! Highly recommended for any household job you may need help with!

Before I go into details, I will say this review is about my experience with Tim as a general contractor, not specific to chimney service. I am in the process of selling my house and in need of a contractor to fix a list of things on the home inspection repair list. One of them is to fix chimney cap. Tim contacted me through HomeAdvisor, he mentioned that he also does home inspection and can fix things besides chimney. I thought since he does home inspection, he should be a good person to do the repairs around the house. He came to the house a couple of days later and provided an estimate, which was much higher than another estimate I got from a different contractor. He was prompt, courteous, and seemed professional, so I shared the other estimate with him. He was able to lower his cost to ~$350 higher than the other estimate, so I decided to go with him. When he came to the house and started working, he told me that he had to cut back on scope of work because of reduced price, which was a surprise and disappointment, given he did not mention reduced work when he provided a new price (for example, he can fill driveway cracks but not sealing driveway, he can install handrail to basement stairs but not balusters, both are required for passing inspection). So I asked him not to proceed with further work until he let me know exactly what is included in his revised estimate. When he provided the more detailed list, I realized it's not enough to pass inspection and I could not move forward with him. He apologized for the misunderstanding and we agreed I would just pay him for the work he had done (installing handrail to basement stairs, fix GFI outlets in kitchen and rear exterior of the house)... Long story short, after Tim left, I noticed the exterior GFI outlet cover was not closed properly, there was a big gap between the faceplate and the side. I texted Tim with a picture, and he said that's okay, which I know it is not. So I asked him to fix it and send me a picture when it's done ( I was out of state at the time). He did and said it is working. So I sent him the check. When I got back and tested the outlet, the GFI is still not working. I texted him and he said he will stop by and fix it that week, it has been two weeks, he has not come by. Story doesn't end here. Township inspector come for pre-sell inspection last week, the two kitchen GFI outlets that Tim said are working also did not pass inspection and need to be repaired. I have since called and left messages, but have not heard back. I am up against my timeline on finishing repairs, and will have to pay another contractor again to fix the problem Tim is supposed to fix. This is beyond frustrating.
Response by Home Inspection Service of New Jersey, LLC: To be honest, we never did any work for this person. We did talk to her about her project, but unfortunately we were not able to help her because we were very busy with projects from other customers at that time and had over a 3-4 week back log of work. This was followed by many many repeating apologies. She needed her work done ASAP, and once she was told that we wouldn't be able to start any of the work she needed done for a few weeks, she became very nasty and unleashed a handful of negative comments directed at us. Although at that time we felt terrible that we couldn't help her right away, it was out of our control since other customers booked there projects and appointments before her. I'm sure that this review she left was a way to get back at us for not being able to help her at the exact time she needed it. This review she left was probably actually the company she hired to do the work, which by the looks of it, didn't go so well and upset her even more. So she obviously directed her anger and took it out on us. We did contact Home Advisor to let them know about this situation and that we NEVER did any work for this person. They are going to remove this review and handle everything else on their end.

Project: Hire a Handyman
Tim is little bit expensive. But I agreed for the price, so it is on me. But he is open to suggestions and works with you. The rating is low because I am not sure if the sealing what he did will withstand the next rain, if it does, my impression will change.
Response by Home Inspection Service of New Jersey, LLC: Well it was one year ago on this exact day, that we went to this customers home to do this repair, and still to this day we have not gotten any calls or complaints from this customer, which could mean only ONE thing and one thing only................ that we did a GREAT job as we always do and GUARANTEE, and the sealing / repair that we did for this customer did NOT leak and has been able to withstand the rain along with any other types of water intrusion for the past year since this customers comment was made, and will continue to keep this customers home RAIN / WATER / LEAK FREE for many years to come!! That's our promise to all our customers, along with the GUARANTEE to always provide the BEST QUALITY WORK AT THE GUARANTEED LOWEST PRICE!! Hopefully now this customers impression has changed since he has experienced first hand the TOP QUALITY, WORRY FREE work that every single one of our customers receives. Our customers mean everything to us!!

Project: Hire a Handyman- For Business
He returns calls or emails very quickly. He showed up on time for the estimate. Gave me a quick estimate. He gave me a date to do the work. He was late getting to my place but I don't care. He called/texted and said he was running late, not a problem. In this business these guys can run late because of another job. I don't care, I just want communication. His work so far has been great.

Review by Rosemarie M. in East Brunswick, NJ
Things started out very well. Tim was very responsive, very fair in price , and very friendly. He arrived early Sunday morning and plowed the driveway, although large areas of ice remained. Front walk was hand shoveled and poorly done. One shovel width and serpentine over the grass. Never found the concrete path. Promised to return several more times to do sidewalks (I am on a corner property), and path to back door. He sent an email later in the day to multiple recipients asking for our patience and that he would return to complete the jobs before anyone left for work on Monday morning. Never saw or heard from him again. Email and phone calls not returned. I sent another email and letter certified return receipt cancelling our contract. He never billed me.
Response by Home Inspection Service of New Jersey, LLC: Thank you for your feedback but unfortunately you did bend the truth a little and left a lot out. Let us tell you our side of the story and the whole true story at that. We actually provided excellent snow removal service at this customers home and we have pictures to prove it. All of our customers mean everything to us and their happiness is always be our #1 priority. We pride ourselves on always being completely dedicated and reliable to each and everyone of our customers. Now here is the truth and nothing but the truth. A couple weekends ago New Jersey got hit with a massive blizzard with snow accumulations bigger then it has seen in a very very long time. We got 3 feet of snow!! Yes 3 feet, not 6 or 10 inches, 3 feet!! The blizzard first started at 11:00pm on Friday night and lasted through Sunday. We first headed out to start providing snow removal for our customers at 3:00am Saturday morning and worked around the clock for 3 straight days with no sleep and very little rest just to ensure that we could help all of our customers as much as possible and in every way we could. Oh and I forgot to mention that in the middle of the blizzard on Saturday, I broke my wrist. Now I could have easily quite and ended my snow removal season but then that would screw my customers so bad in the middle of a blizzard and there was no way that I was gonna do that. I would never ever do that to my customers because of how much they mean to me and how completely dedicated I am to them. So I basically sucked it up and toughed it out and just continued to work and work until all my customers had their snow removed. Cause again that's how important my customers are to me and my company. Now in regards to this customer, we got to her house on Sunday morning and spent almost 4 hours removing all the snow from her property which we then followed up with putting down two 50 pound bags of ice melt to ensure there was no ice and places for this customer to slip and fall. We did tell the customer that we would be back the next to check everything out, and as promised, we did return only to see that even more snow was gone from melting and her property looked great!! And again we took pictures to cover ourselves. But just to be on the safe side we laid down another 50 pound bag of ice melt and did some shoveling to ensure that this customer was happy with the great job we did. So to be honest with you all, this is a complete shock that this customer is saying these things cause we definitely provided excellent service and went above and beyond at her property. So let's recap, 1-We had a blizzard with record snow fall(3feet) 2- I had a broken wrist but didn't throw in the towel because of my complete dedication to my customers and in now way did I want them to suffer or get screwed. 3- We did an excellent job and cleared all her snow with pictures as proof. Being great for all our customers is the only way we operate. Just look at all of our other very happy customers. Notice she is the only one complaining. I don't know what that's all about except maybe she had a bad day which I'm very sorry to hear. Have a great day!!
