I made an appointment for October 7th from 9am-11am. NO ONE SHOWED UP!!! I waited at my house until 4pm. I am not happy. I have called 6 times now! I called 3 times on Saturday, October 7th with no callback and called again Monday, October 9th at 10:30 am. I have not received a call back yet and I want my next appointment to be discount by atleast 50%. I would give Kings Chimney and fireplace inc all 0's if it was an option!!!!

Project: Repair a Brick or Stone Fireplace (Non-Gas)
TEN STARS is what we would rate King’s Chimney & Fireplace Inc. From my pro request to Home Advisor to the finished job took only 4 days! Our home has 2 brick chimney’s that needed repair work and we had a cement block chimney on our garage that needed to be removed. The job took a day longer than anticipated (at no additional charge I might add) They swept up and hosed off all the grinding dust on the roof and the deck and our chimney’s look new again! The 4 young men that did the work were professional, polite and were top notch in our book!

He did a lot, he totally relocated the pellet stove from one room to another and made it look brand new. He repainted it and it looks amazing.

They are a nightmare company. They never return phone calls. They never show up when they say (about a dozen times they have said they would start my job and have not appeared once over the last five months). Always an excuse (illnesses, a crew that did not show up for work, car wrecks, gas leaks, other jobs taking too much time). I feel swindled. I now must sue them in order to retrieve the down payment. I should have known better now that I have read the review warnings from the Better Business folks. Beware! If you want trouble, hire these people.
Response by Kings Chimney and Fireplace, Inc.: We had a very rough time getting this job under way ... yes a crew wrecked a work van and they were injured. We also had gas leaks at a customers home that needed tended to. I had not heard confirmation that this customer wanted a refund but now that I do I will get the process started. We are very sorry he got caught in the cross fire of all of the these things that happened.

They performed the job and we found several areas in the tuckpoint that they missed. They wanted full payment less a small amount left to be paid when they came back and finished the job. The problem is they never returned to finish and will not answer our phone calls. They were very expensive also ($5,000+). I equated the expensive price with good work but it didn't work out that way.

I am STILL WAITING to get my job finished. I would never recommend this company to anyone given the nightmare that has been our project. We have paid Kings Chimney nearly $26K for what is now a $28K job which started in April (was supposed to be only $20K) and we are still waiting on them to answer us with status on the remaining material coming in so they can finish the job. The work done is done very well, but they won't schedule, they won't plan, they won't communicate, and its very unprofessional. We wanted a particular stone which was sold to us as available and we requested hammered steel patina bracket supports. We were then told we needed to spend more money to secure the stone, because we needed to make a minimum order of 2 pallets and it would be a lead time. We were told they could finish in July, its now August and we can't get them to give us any answers. Mind you, there were already 2 weeks late getting to our job and over a week beyond how long they said it would be to finish the job. Then, we stop them from bringing in standard brackets..not the $700 ones we paid for, but something we could have gotten at Home Depot. We said "NO" and it was taken back and we are still waiting for the brackets we paid for, the stone we paid for, and they will not return our calls, they won't communicate with us and they refuse to give us a schedule or status on the material or the job. For a $28K job, that's pretty bad customer service. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am ready to take legal action on this. This was a huge job. We needed our fireplace top removed and the stone sealed, we bought to stoves for installation (woodstove and LP stove), we had old stoves removed and new stonework/masonry done. The work done is very nice, but we work from home and we asked repeatedly to be informed when they would be here so we could accomodate. They never showed up on time, sometimes not arriving until noon to start work, my goddaughter walked into her room to a floor of broken glass from something getting shattered in her room. They threw plastic over it, didn't tell us, and then when it was addressed, didn't even clean it up. I had to clean it up. I'm furious with the unprofessional behavior of this company and I want this resolved. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. The work quality is good, but the customer service, responsiveness, and conduct has been far less than satisfactory, especially for the money we've paid.

While the work Kings did was good, getting them to confirm appointments, return calls, keep appointments, and finish the work is nearly impossible. We originally scheduled the appointment with the sales person for 2 weeks after the quote. On the day of our scheduled install they were a no show. We called the office and were told we were not on the schedule. We were on a time schedule as we were due to have a major remodel take place the following week. They agreed to work on the weekend due to their error and give us a $200 discount for the inconvenience. The installers arrived on Saturday and told us they could not perform the install as one of their installation vans was in a locked garage and they couldn’t reach the owner. They promised they would come back on Sunday. I agreed on the condition that while they were working on the gas line, they install an additional gas nipple for me along the same wall. They agreed. On Sunday, they arrived and they completed the install. When the installers completed the job, they did not have the frame we ordered for our fireplace. They also did not honor the $200 discount because they installed an additional gas line for us at no charge. They told us they would come back and install the correct frame when it arrived. We've made 3 appointments for them to replace the arrived frame and each time they no showed. No calls, no apologies, no frame. I contacted HomeAdvisor and relayed this information. The representative attempted to contact King Fireplace and was not able to reach anyone. When 72 hours had passed without a call from King, I contacted HomeAdvisor again and an official complete was started. Approximately a week later we received a call to set up an appointment to install the correct frame. Additionally, we were told we would receive a $150 refund for the trouble. King did show up on the day and time they scheduled. The installers were not rude yet they were curt. They completed the install and left without letting anyone in the house know the job was done. On that day, I had 2 contractors in my house and 1 outside as well as the 3 occupants of the house at home. Not a word. Just gone. We were told to expect the refund check between 7 and 10 days. Three weeks passed without a check or a phone call. I let HomeAdvisor know that there was no check. Seven days later, we received the check. Summary, Kings Chimney and Fireplace does not keep appointments. They don't return calls. They don’t honor their word. Do not waste your time with this company. They are not worth the time, effort or money.
