Hire a Handyman

It started well. Michael insisted that we do not take it by hours/ time, but by projects. He completed his part and asked his partner Bobbi to complete the rest (wood work related). Bobbi did not show up prior to our moving. Now that we have family moved in, late night hours do not work for us.

Michael did an excellent job installing the sound bar for the TV. He also made corrections to mistakes made by the first installer who set up our new TV. We are no longer confused on how to operate our new electronics! Michael was very professional and courteous! We are keeping his contact information, and he will be the first technition we will call in the future!!!

Hire a Handyman

Micheal was so awesome! Did a great job putting together a cabinet for me and it was a horrible Amazon purchase because it wasn't an easy project to put together! But he did it! He rocks big times! Would definitely use again! â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸

I recently purchased a new TV for our den, replacing our now outdated 60-something inch with an 80-something inch. Hanging the first TV was, hmm, lets just say it was my wife and my we'll have it up in no more than an hour on Saturday plan...that didnt quite work out that way. Anyway...with this upgrade came also an upgrade in installation...which was to hire an installer. To keep it short and give credit where it is due, we hired Michael Wolfe and he really did an outstanding job. He is punctual, personable, professional, well outfitted with tools for this scope of work, knowledgeable about industry standards of AV installation, and offered some great suggestions for our upcoming surround sound addition. He is super helpful, answered all my questions and I would absolutely recommend him to others. Thanks again Mike, job well-jone Ã°Â Â Â

We perform this screening when a business applies to join our network and, if the business is accepted, whenever concerns are brought to our attention. We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
