I chose to work in this industry because I like working with my hands and find it fun and challenging to help people solve their electrical problems.

I love working in Long Island and Queens because I grew up in Queens and now live in Baldwin, LI.

We started in this industry in 1970.

I have 5 kids ranging in age from 3 to 21, I am a 2nd degree blackbelt in Shotokan karate and I play the drums in a rock band and in church

He did the job he was hired to do (I guess); however, I expected a little more. He was hired to install a new light fixture; he did not want to come out and review the job before engaging, he wanted me to go select the replacement fixture and he would install it. I asked how much would this cost and he told $125 plus tax. He sent me a text stating he would be at my home between 9:30 and 11:00 Wednesday morning. At 10:00 I called and asked was he still coming and he informed me that he told me he would be there by 12:00 noon. At that point I asked him to check the email which stated he would be at my home by 11:00. He then told me when he completes the job he is on he would come by. He arrived 11:35. He also checked his email and sent another stating he was "sorry for the confusion" (but for the record, I was not confused). After the installation, I noticed there was some holes in the ceiling from the previous fixture; and when I asked about them he told me fixing that was not what he was hired for. Nor did he explain before he started the job, that that could be a problem... it seems he was only interested in doing specifically what he felt we agreed to, get his money and leave. I paid him, but don't consider him a real professional... also, he did not take away any of the fixtures he removed... I guess, I need to have more experience in working with contractors who perform projects for the home.
Response by Mr. Electric, Inc.: We are sorry that this customer does not feel satisfied with the work that was performed, but we did exactly what we discussed in detail with him. During the initial phone call, he explained that he was looking to replace a fixture. In our experience, with the amount of variety in light fixtures available on the market today, we find that it is best when a customer is looking for something specific that they purchase it themselves. With a direct replacement for a light fixture, it was not the type of job we would need to see on site prior to arriving to do the work. We quoted him the standard price and detailed what that would include. Prior to even scheduling the job, we explained that we DO NOT do plastering and unfortunately, as is the nature of electrical work, at times minor repairs will be necessary. We always thoroughly clean up after our work is completed and are happy to bring any trash to a customer's garbage cans, but we do not haul away. In over 40 years of business, this is the first time I have heard a complaint about this. Regarding the time of arrival, we provide customers with a window of time. This is necessary as every jobsite we go on has variable factors that we must allow for. While there was a mix-up of the window by one hour, it was an error on our part, for which we apologized. We arrived as quickly as possible and completed the work in a timely, professional manner. When you look at our ratings and see 384 five-star reviews with the words "professional", "efficient" and "knowledgeable" repeatedly used to describe us, it makes you wonder why an individual describes their experience in such a way that is so out of alignment with so many other customers.
