Newlight tile does great work on porcelain and ceramic tile, but is not a marble specialist. We hired this company to clean the grout and marble flooring in two bathrooms. The quote was well within our budget. The pictures of the work they showed us was impressive, but all of it was on ceramic tile. The online reviews were great. The issue is that marble is different than porcelain or ceramic tile and cleaning the grout requires a different method than trying to clean with a chemical and a power brush. When they could not get it clean they wanted to put on a color sealer (basically coat or mask over the existing grout and stone). I did not think this would be a good idea for marble. They discounted the price by 50% because they could not get the grout clean which is why I gave them 5 stars on customer service. I gave them 4 stars on the value for the money because what was done for the discounted price was worth the money spent. I gave them a 3 on quality of work because it was below expectations for the job we had. My advice to this company is after you start the job, if you are finding that what you are doing is not going to get the job done, then please contact the home owner and let them know before spending a whole day working as that would have saved everyone some time and money. We have been in contact with a company that specializes in marble flooring and they have advised us that the method for cleaning marble flooring and grout is different than porcelain and ceramic and requires different tools. If you have a marble floor, I would recommend getting a marble flooring specialist. If what you need cleaned is porcelain or ceramic then Newlight would be good option.
Response by Newlight Tile Restoration: We are very sorry that Jay G. was not completely satisfied with the work we did however, most of the issues the he describes has nothing to do with the type of tile, whether it be marble, porcelain, ceramic or any other type of tile. The issues he had were with the cleaning of the grout which would be similar with any tile. However, sometimes on marble flooring, the grout is soiled in a way that it saturates deeply. An option of honing and polishing the marble tiles was presented to the customer, but they did not like this idea and refused to consider that this process be performed. On the grout in the floor in a second bathroom, we gave the customer the option of a Cleaning and ColorSealing, a process that would not only have made it look better than just cleaning as with porcelain or ceramic tiles, but we also offered this free of charge. He was not satisfied with the cleaning of the grout so refused to even allow us to perform a sample area of Cleaning and Color-Sealing, so he could see how it would come out before performing this on the entire floor. The process would have made it all look as good as with porcelain or ceramic tile.
