Review by Tracie S. in Atlanta, GA
It has been like surviving a natural disaster to try to repair our lives and home after contracting with Nano Environmental-Gwinnett and parent company Nano Environmental Solutions. This situation is very emotional for our family. But I will do my best to present the situation in a fact-based manner that I hope will be most helpful for other families. 1.Destruction of home: Nano hired a demolition crew to cut holes in the sheetrock of every room of our home in order to "look for mold", incentivizing large (jagged) cuts by paying them per sq. ft. of wall removed. We now know that standard remediation practice is to thread thin, lighted cameras through small holes in sheetrock to scan for mold in wall cavities. You absolutely need to cut out sheetrock to get rid of mold, but never just to look for it. Nano reported finding no mold through these cuts. 2.Compromising our family's health: Nano told us it was safe to return home on Oct. 3. We arrived that day to find visible mold throughout the home and had to leave immediately. 3.Price gouging: On Oct. 4, Nano stated that not only had they been mistaken about the home's safety, remediation would now cost another $5,500, on top of the originally contracted $11,414. Shocked, we repeatedly requested itemization and justification for these additional charges. Nano promised itemization on Oct. 4, but none came until Oct. 17,after work had ostensibly been completed. 4.Billing improprieties: When itemization finally arrived, it was in the form of an invoice filled with redundant charges and rate increases. Nano even billed us twice for the same dehumidifier at 2 different prices. They explained that double charges for work such as "wiping down walls" were because they hired subcontractors, given they were "busy with other clients". Nano was asking us to pay both them and their subcontractors for the same contracted deliverables. 5.Leaking due to faulty installation: Nano incorrectly installed a dehumidifier 3 times, causing extensive leaking in our basement twice. We were saved from further damage the 1st time because water streaming across the floor triggered our motion detector at 4:45am. HVAC specialists later showed us how Nano had water draining uphill, attached pipes with tape, did not install a drain pan, and mounted the device on wood salvaged from our basement. 6.Disrupted internet access: Nano's crew chopped into our ethernet cord, yanking it from the wall. We were without internet in our home/home office 3 days awaiting repairs. 7.Losing our belongings: Most devastating to our family, Nano did not remove or cover furniture or belongings on our home's main or upper levels when they chopped large holes in the walls of every room. And they did not seal off the chopped sections with plastic. Thus, stagnant, mold-laden air trapped in walls was released throughout our home, contaminating our unprotected belongings. Consequently, we had to throw out all large porous items in our home (

Sandy seems very knowledgeable about water, mold, and other problems and proposed numerous remedies for addressing my problem. All the people on the crew at my house were thorough and professional. I highly recommend them.

In August the seal on my upstairs toilet broke causing water damage and mold in my home. I contacted my plumber and he told me I needed to dry out my bathroom and downstairs laundry room and address the mold that had accumulated as a result. After I contacted a company my plumber recommended, and declined to use them, I decided to search Home Advisors. I found and contacted Nano Environmental Solutions to access the situation and provide me with an estimate. Knowing I had water damage and mold was very stressful. But when I contacted Nano through Home Advisors on Friday, Sandy Mason was reassuring, helpful, and accommodating. When I described the damage to her during our initial phone conversation, she was able to give me a preliminary assessment, and we scheduled an appointment the next morning, which was Saturday. Sandy and one of her workers promptly came to my home. We did a walk through and then discussed my options and next steps, including whether I should file an insurance claim. She was knowledgeable with a willingness to answer all questions. She told me her background was in chemistry, but she explained the science of mold growth in layman’s terms so I understood what was happening in my home. I decided to use her company and she agreed to deliver industrial fans and dehumidifiers that day to begin the lengthy process necessary to dry out my home. Sandy explained it typically takes approximately 72 hours or 4 days to dry a home with damage like my home experienced. In the coming days her team returned to complete the work once the water damaged areas were dry. The Nano workers were polite and professional as they completed their work to eradicate the mold. They cleaned the bathroom subfloor, laundryroom ceiling, and all vents in my home, then treated them for mold. They also removed the waterlogged plaster and sheetrock from the laundry ceiling . After they completed the cleaning process, another worker returned in a day or two to spray my home to treat any remaining mold spores. When I did the initial walk through with the Nano team, things appeared fine. But I soon discovered some vents had not been properly reinstalled. When I brought this to Sandy’s attention, she immediately dispatched another worker to remediate the work at my convenience, no questions asked. Nano follows industry standards to make sure they safely rid your home of mold. Their pricing is competitive. They do their best to help you work with your homeowner’s insurance carrier to make sure you file the appropriate claim to obtain a fair settlement to cover your damages. Whenever your home sustains water damage or mold damage it’s a catastrophe. Addressing it is time consuming and often costly, which can make any homeowner anxious. But Nano helped me address this difficult situation as economically and efficiently as possible.

Very friendly. They videoed there work. Took way longer than I thought but it was way worst than I thought. They did cause some damage by getting dabris in our sump pump. Stopping it up and did more water damage to our furnace. I would still recommend Nano. They followed up on everything. Greatjob.
