Old Time Handyman

Old Time Handyman has more than 30 years of experience delivering quality workmanship in a timely manner. In a profession filled with dishonest practices and shoddy work, I pride myself on being different from the bunch. I worked as a handyman exclusively for years all over Southern California with many years spent as the local go to man in the Malibu area. In order to meet the needs of my clients during these difficult economic times, I've lowered my prices by 30%, this summer only. I take great pride in my beautiful family, my teaching, and the quality of service I provide to my customers. Call today and let's work together!

Jim, did some tile work in the bathroom. He did a great job on the tile. I then had him install two screen doors. I don't think he knew how to install the doors correctly, but ultimately they look decent. You could tell which door he did first, and which door he did second (when he was tired, and not happy about his pay). I would suggest to anybody that uses him that they have him bid the job, and not do hourly. He was initially hired on the hour ($35), but when he showed up the day of the job, the timeline changed from 3 hours to 6 hours. I felt it was a bait and switch. ultimately i paid for the job. Jim was no happy and it showed.
Response by Old Time Handyman: I gave Tim an estimate of three hours or about $100 to install two standard doors and lay the tile. His doors were non-standard. I informed him he needed either custom doors or custom framing which would be $210. It was a bigger job than that but I wanted him to be satisfied. Halfway to the store he called and said he felt I was doing a "bait and switch" and would pay only $160, I should do it for that or he implied he'd write a bad review. When I got back I let him know I felt the price was unfair and asked him to negotiate this larger job. He refused. I completed a $420/twelve hour job for $160. You just can't please some people.
