Project: Build or Install an In Ground Swimming Pool
Prestige Pools transformed our manicured backyard into a backyard paradise. Shane, Jordan and truly the entire crew was amazing, subs included. Each were professional, yet relational, which truly was critical while they were craning the pool over the house! Jordan was/is awesome, even after the turn-over he has made himself available to help me with all my questions and concerns as I'm a first time pool owner. They were extremely patient and provided some great input as we went through the decision making process, as there are ton of models/features available to choose from and this is a one time purchase. In the end we went with two key upgrades, a Rico Rock Water feature and Stamped concrete. I highly recommend these options as we get a tone of compliments on them when we have pool parties. If you are considering installing a in ground pool, Prestige should be at the top of your list!

The business owner responded to our review. There is not a way to comment on his response, so I'm adding it to our original review. He also responded to our review on his Facebook page, but removed our ability to comment. How convenient. His entire rebuttal is a complete fabrication. We stand by our original review and have audio, pictures, text, and documentation to back up our claims. If you want further detail or clarification feel free to contact us at 3058155145 or 3055052494. By the way, we have had several other customers reach out to us that had similar experiences so before making up stories be aware that customers talk to each other. Original review: Would not recommend to anyone. What went wrong? Let me count the ways: 1. During planning "already had $42,000 deposit" the owner Shane asked us not to contact him directly, we could only go through their project manager Jordan. 2. Jordan lacked knowledge in several instances and grew irritated and defensive when we questioned anything. So with owner Shane not willing to communicate that caused a lot of problems. 3.The mason who was to build our fire pit and spa plus lay stone and tile came to work at 2 hour intervals each day, and finally when he stopped showing up and we questioned the lay, he had to be removed from our property after shouting obscenities and making threatening comments. 4. There was delay after delay with the deck work and they tried to extort an additional $5400 an hour before the deck was to be finally placed. They refused to lay the deck until payment was received, and we refused, so deck work was delayed while they claimed that there was an additional 350 square feet that had to be paid for. They were the ones who laid the deck forms, and were the ones who came up with the original square footage amount so we trusted they were doing what we agreed upon. After much debate we came to an agreement. 5. We were already paid in full and transition tile and stonework were delayed time after time. They would not answer phone calls or texts and when they did they were clipped and rude, like they were doing us a favor. 6. They would give us a work schedule and not show up without communication. Then we had to place a lock on our gate to get them to communicate when they needed access. 7. The spa was not working after all building was complete. They were very evasive and defensive through the entire problem. We had to file a complaint through the BBB to get them to act. Complaint number is 15053441. They have not responded to two attempts by the BBB to contact them about our issues. We have had to threaten legal actions as well. 8. Turns out they plumbed the spa wrong and had to tear apart a chunk of our newly built to try and fix their mistake. They made three attempts to fix it, and we thought it was resolved, however after a couple weeks it is still not right. 9. We have a re-occurring rust stain on our deck that they have yet to resolve. They claim they fixed it when some cleaner but the stain was back the next day, and they have not returned. 10. Transition tile grout very sloppy with chunks all over. They came to fix it and did part of the work and said they would return. Has not happened. We finished touch up work ourselves. 11. Transition tile keeps falling off, we are having to figure out how to reattach it because they are nowhere to be found. 12. Text after text unanswered, call after call unanswered. 13. Poor quality work after dishing out $82,0000. -- We are going on five months of this nightmare; they said six weeks. Shame on us for not getting it in writing and for paying in full before all work was complete and working as it should. We are happy to have our project complete and our ability to enjoy our pool, but it really has been poor workmanship, atrocious customer service, and lack of follow through and just zero professionalism.
Response by Prestige Pools of Wilmington, Inc.: The Design & Quote process on this project was around a year. Our only point of communication was with Mrs. B.[Consumer name withheld at their request], and it was a comfortable and steady pace with a projected start time in mind. Communication during all the project origination phase was with Mrs. B.[Consumer name withheld at their request], and not at any point in this time period did we have any contact with Mr. B.[Consumer name withheld at their request]. We set a date to sign the agreement per the Design & Quote outline provided. That day was our first encounter with Mr. B.[Consumer name withheld at their request] and immediately he insisted on a 10% discount, as well as began to question pricing on all parts of the project.  This was a bit shocking since the price that had been previously quoted and established. We did however implement a discount, but he requested an even greater discount and his demeanor became even more aggressive. We modified our standard payment schedule to accommodate this discount, and built the discount in on the last payment.  This was agreed to at the point of contract. As the project began, and during excavation, Mr. B.[Consumer name withheld at their request] was standing in a danger zone.  This was within 1'-2' of the working excavator digging the pool hole, and not something we allow for safety reasons. We politely asked he move away from the danger zone, however he would not move. After the 4th attempt I walked with him to the side yard explaining the danger he was putting himself & my crew in, and I politely asked that he stay away from the work zone until we finished. At this point he became irritated and asked if I was not allowing him in his rear property. I explained for his safety, and the safety of the crew, he could not be in this working area. The moment I left, he went to the same location and thereby fully endangering himself & my crew once again. My crew was forced to stop working until Mr. B.[Consumer name withheld at their request] left. My crew was forced to stop many times thought the dig as he was would continue to walk to the excavation site and get too close to the hole and working equipment. This is one example of the type of atmosphere that was created by Mr. B.[Consumer name withheld at their request] during the entire build. We positioned the outer concrete deck forms. Everyone agreed on the layout & cost. The team would arrive the next day to better prepare the site for the upcoming concrete pour, the outer deck forms had been moved, expanding the decking to a larger area. When we asked Mr. B.[Consumer name withheld at their request] about the forms being moved, he would tell us he did not move them. It appeared as though the forms were moved to expand the area at our cost. Each and every team member on this project had some sort of situation with Mr. B.[Consumer name withheld at their request]. We worked through them all in the best manner possible to get the job completed. Our communication log was 4 times greater on this project than any of the 500+ projects we have built in New Hanover County since 1999. Unforeseen site challenges, or job site obstacles beyond our control, can happen on projects and cause delays. On this project the main power supply for the house was running through the pool area and had to be moved. This was not part of our responsibility but we did what we could to help it along. This took many weeks and had to be performed by Duke Energy according to standard requirements. Mr. & Mrs. B.[Consumer name withheld at their request] also locked the access gates to the work area after frequently, thereby causing delays and overages on budget. Prestige Pools appreciates all of our customers feedback. This helps us grow as a company and better serve our past & future pool owners. Prestige Pools

Prestige Pools promised and delivered and we are so very thankful and happy!!! My husband and I researched area pool companies in early 2017 looking to transform our back yard jungle into our little oasis. Prestige Pools became our top choice for many reasons. By far, Shane showed the most interest in working with us. He was professional, knowledgeable, informative, friendly and courteous. He explained many options available to us and his company could complete anything and everything we wanted at a reasonable and competitive price. As an added bonus to working with Shane was his manager and right hand man Jordan! Jordan was fantastic. Shane and Jordan sat down with us as we finalized our pool and backyard vision. At this point Jordan became our point man once the contract was signed. He continually kept us up to date with the progression of our project. He always answered his phone, called and/or would stop over to ensure all work was perfect and to our expectations. Jordan was extremely professional, mindful, knowledgeable, ready to please, offer suggestions that we didn't think of and truly showed that he cared about our project. He was responsive to our questions and concerns and he was able to make changes and adjustments to our original plans without hesitation. Jordan always had a smile on his face and was a wonderful project manager. We appreciated his guidance throughout as he led the crew to get the project completed by the promised due date. We cannot thank you enough Jordan!!! You deserve an A+++ and a 10 out of 5 stars in all categories. We couldn't be happier with the team Shane has put together! The jobsite was clean of litter and debris and was organized the entire time. All the workers were friendly and courteous. We highly recommend Prestige Pools which has the best crew imaginable!! Shane, Jordan, TNT Concrete (Blake and Ed), Elroy and Mario (construction crew), Hardee Landscape & Irrigation (Barry and Todd) helped create our very own backyard oasis, they made our dreams come true. Thank you Presitge Pools!!!!! Sincerely, Joe and Patty

Before you hire this company to install a pool you may want to find another company, They have a BBB rating of a C- and they have that rating for a reason. They will not stand behind their work. If you have an issue with it they will not fix it. This company may have been a good company at one time but from what me and my wife has been though with Shane you don't want to go though. He is a bully. He and his company is more into how many Pools they can put in and how much money they can make off you and not their quality of work.
Response by Prestige Pools of Wilmington, Inc.: Prestige Pools tested the pool for leaks by our team first. We found the skimmer installed by the manufacturer may have been leaking but not confirmed. The skimmer was then sealed beyond our normal standards. We have hired a total of 3 independent pool /leak detection companies to test the pool for leaks. Prestige Pools paid for all of these services in full. One may have found a small leak around the light niche, was not totally confirmed, a sealant was applied. We did not hear anything about the pool leaking after this. This was on 4-10-17 On 6-21-17 a report with the bbb became active, stating ?That they fix the leak in the light or replace the light fitting were it is leaking, fix or replace the skimmer were it is leaking and repair and replace the cracking cement? We emailed the client directly on 6-22-17, not channeling through the bbb. The client sent us a email on 6-22-17. Her email read exactly ? After 6 months of watching the water level, I believe the leaks have been fixed but confirmation would be great!? We then set up the 3rd leak detection company to visit the site along with several crew members. No leaks were detected after 2-3 hours of testing by way of various leak detection methods & procedures. The pool started construction mid November 2016 Pool school was completed late December 2016 Prestige Pools was established in Wilmington, NC, in 1999 and has over 400 swimming pools providing family fun and enjoyment in the New Hanover County area. Project: Build or Install a Fiberglass Swimming Pool
Beautifully done, from start to finish. After searching online and reading reviews, we sent an e-mail to three pool companies stating our budget and wish list. We asked them to tell us how much of our "wish list" they could provide within our budget. One company never responded at all, one sent an e-mail response about a week later. Jordan Whitaker of Prestige Pools called immediately and stopped by that afternoon with photos and suggestions. He got the contract. Jordan was honest about what could/should be done. His price was fair. We decided on a 12X25 fiberglass pool, 4 1/2 feet deep throughout, with filter, skimmer, etc., one light, and a Rico Rock waterfall. Jordan returned with Shane, the company owner, to survey the yard. Installing a pool is a project with lots of parts. Excavation, pool placement, concrete decking, various inspections, etc. Throughout the process, Jordan was here frequently. The customer service was absolutely wonderful. Each team of workers clearly knew what they were doing, and each step of this process required skill and experience. Jordan also coordinated efforts with our fence contractor and landscaper. He cleaned the pool for our first use, and taught us how to care for filter, etc. All necessary equipment was included. No surprise extra necessities with charges. Everything can be operated electronically by cell phone. Our pool was ready on the promised day in time for a gathering of out-of-state family! We are very happy with the result, and we recommend Prestige without hesitation.

He was very professional yet personable from start to finish and was right with us during the whole process. We were impressed by his team which included a group of knowledgable, professional, and hard working men. Shane was easily accessible and responded quickly to all of our questions. June 22, 2015 This is a review for Prestige Pools of Wilmington. We purchased our home last September knowing that we wanted to install a pool in the backyard. My husband contacted Shane with Prestige and I have to say that we have been extremely impressed. Our yard was a challenge due to being on a hill along a creek. The complicated job required following local ordinances as well as CAMA guidelines. Our project required more than just the install of a pool; Shane had to oversee the construction of retention walls, new brick work and a total rework of the stairs to our back porch. All along the way, Shane was with us to make sure that our vision of the pool would work within the confines of our yard. Shane truly created a backyard oasis for our family that we can enjoy for years to come. He has continued to be available to us after the install for questions regarding maintenance and operation. We would highly recommend him and Prestige Pools.

Absolutely one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor. From pool design, consulting on the product that was best suited for our family. Shane and his group were here to help us and not only to sell us. Shane was always on site, always checking in on us. He continues to check in on us Post project completion of the project. I was lucky to find Prestige Pool, have them build my pool and manage my project. I would highly recommend Prestige Pools

Working with Prestige Pools was an all around great experience. The owner, Shane was very helpful with taking all of the ideas we had in our head and drawing them out for us. He talked us through every step and was very patient with us as we constantly made changes. He finished the pool ahead of schedule which allowed the kids to use the pool for a week or so before the season ended. His crew was also AWESOME! They were professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. They were all a very trustworthy crew and we felt like we were in good hands through the whole project. My kids were sad to see them leave after the pool was completed. Shane met all our expectations and went above and beyond to accommodate our changes and make our pool dream come true. The finished project came out even better than we envisioned. We would highly recommend Prestige Pools without hesitation for your pool or spa project. Heather and Gene Botterio
