Reviews
Write a ReviewI went to Owens Corning to research the roofing material. Owens Corning is excellent as well. They make it easy to search the roof shingle and select the appropriate style, color and life. Owens allows you to research approved contractors in your region. I chose (3) Platinum Preferred Contractors in my area because I wanted to make sure I got the best quality installation. Quinn's was the 3rd on my list and they were the best for various reasons: - Very professional sales: Andy came to the house after examining the outside and detailing the home dimensions, which were downloaded to a service accessible by software on his computer. Andy spent significant time showing my rendered house on the computer in real time adding/deleting features giving me a solid understanding of the process. Andy brought material into the home to allow me to touch/feel and get a very clear understanding of that quality material used. Quinn's is many more times interactive than the other 2 quotes. - Accurate scheduling: Scott called multiple times leading up to the day of installation. As always, no matter the industry, the Project Lead knows much more information than the sales person (this is not a ding on Andy who did excellent work). He cleared up any remaining questions I had. The job started the exact day we discussed and the crew was there 7am on the first and every day. - Work in progress: Scott arrived at the site each day. The job took 2.5 days to perform. I think that in general roofing contractors have to apologize about how long it takes to do a roof. I understand that competitors bring a ton of people to get the job done in 1 day. You decide for yourself if 1 day v. ~3 days is a concern, but I appreciated the attention to detail more than the time it took. Feel free to ding them for taking more than 1 day; I won't - The finish: Scott and I walked the job each day and there were some minor items that needed attention. Some old tiles rubbed against the housing and left marks that were easily cleaned. If I had to do it again, I would require that Quinn's charged me for fresh-out-of-the-bag tarps with no holes in them. I believe since the crew used very old tarps, you could see where tiles could slip through. My advice to Quinn's use new tarps each job or no more than two jobs. Use more than you need to ensure the house does not get touched - Nails and debris: this deserves a separate discussion. It is nearly impossible to have ZERO nails or debris left after the team leaves. I found maybe 4-5 nails and various small old roof parts. This is excellent (believe it or not). They had a person the entire time looking and cleaning. I believe if they used NEW tarps and twice as many, there would we almost 0 debris/nails. I own a metal detector and did a search for these nails on my hands and knees because I am very concerned about my dog. Again, I didn't find many, but I did find many more nails for a siding job I had done by a different company 3 years ago - Price: price is not a concern given that I expected all quotes to be within a couple thousand of each other. I would have paid Quinn's more for the job if they quoted it since I wanted to make sure they were an excellent choice. The were the least expensive of all three.
