The woman who cleaned did a fine job of cleaning. It was her follow-up that was poor. She missed the date I had her scheduled for -she said it was for a week later but even then she had me double-booked and called to cancel. Problem was I was out of the country, wanted my house cleaned before I returned home and it didn't happen. When I called her to discuss the mix-up on dates she argued with me that I was wrong. I was still willing to give her another chance but she never called me back to reschedule after she said she would.

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with the individual that was sent to our house to clean. There were areas missed, she never stayed for the full cleaning time, she used our kitchen sponge to clean our bathroom and then left it by the kitchen sink, etc. Because of the experience I chose to go with another company and I did not give Ann a chance to send someone else out. Ann was great to work with, I just don't feel comfortable only having one person in my house at a time...I prefer the crew so there's some check and balances.

The lady that cleans is always late by at least an hour....was on time last week. Messes up our schedule since she does not have a key. She cleans well but always has an excuse as to why she is late or once can not make it.

THe woman was not friendly at all. We hired for a move out cleaning and I had to do the floor boards and the floor before we did the walkthrough.

THe client did not contact us to let us know that they were unhappy, otherwise we would have refunded their money or whatever it took to reverse the situation.

Wrong products used like Murphy's oil on the hardwood floors. Over spray on on the metal fixtures. Residue ffrom cleaning the appliances left on the hardwood floor. Streaks left on glass/polished surfaces. Cleaned the back bedroom after being told specifically not to clean it and then left the sink bowl half cleaned with the dirty sponge in it. Very definetly not worth the $122 I paid to have our house cleaned for my Wifes Valentine present. Plus no courtesy call from them to see how they did...

Response from Company:

This client was contacted and sent a refund. New technician that we sent in on this project tried to offer free cleanings to make up for the mistakes and client decided not to accept.

We perform this screening when a business applies to join our network and, if the business is accepted, whenever concerns are brought to our attention. If you have concerns that a pro in our network doesn't meet these standards, please contact us to investigate. We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the state in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Businesses will not be admitted to the network if their owners or principals have the following felonies in their available criminal records*:

Arson

Assault/domestic violence/battery

Child abuse

Intimidation/terrorist threats

Kidnapping/abduction

Lewd and lascivious behavior

Manslaughter/murder/homicide/vehicular homicide

Rape/incest

Robbery/carjacking

Sex offenses

Other felonies not listed above that occurred in the past seven years

Contracting without a license in the past seven years

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened biennially.

How is COVID-19 impacting the HomeAdvisor background check program?

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several government agencies and courts across the country have temporarily closed their offices. While HomeAdvisor will continue its background check program to the extent possible, these closures could prevent some background checks from being performed. Please be advised that, during this period, if we could not perform a background check, HomeAdvisor will allow the business into the network and match the business to consumers. As affected government agencies and courts begin to re-open, we will resume our program in those jurisdictions. As always, we encourage consumers to perform their own research, to the extent possible, before hiring any business.

Licensing

We verify any applicable state-level licenses, and we require every business to attest that they carry the appropriate local licensing to practice their trade. Please note that HomeAdvisor does not confirm local licensing. Do your own research using online ratings, reviews and through phone interviews before hiring a company.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
