Outdoor Prier hydrant that was installed did not function properly and leaked substantially at the freeze plug. Contractor was contacted and he contacted the hardware company but did not come out and review the installation in person. He asked the hardware store to ship me a replacement valve that he asked me to install instead of him coming out to replace it. Very poor service considering the amount I paid for this repair.
Response by Richard A. Cook, Jr. Plumbing & Heating, Inc.: This was just a backflow device, on the new frostproof hose bib we installed that was leaking. This part screws out by hand. The company we purchased the valve from offered to send it to the customer at no charge. I called the homeowner and explained about the 30-second repair using no tools and he said he was alright with that. I feel that he wrote the review before he received the new part, and realized that it really was a 30-second fix.

They were very courteous over the phone whenever we spoke about the potential work to be done. Our 21 year old water heater wasn't heating quite as much as it used to. Dave came out to the house to take a look. He said he could try to repair it but with it being so old I wasn't shocked when he suggested just replacing it. We scheduled the install and the cost of that visit applied to the install price. On the day of install Dave arrived a little early to the appointed time, which is 100% fine by me. He got the old water heater out, replaced an old shutoff valve, and installed the new water heater in about 3hrs. The new water heater was delivered right to the house and Dave exchanged the old for the new with the courier (who was really funny). Dave showed me how the new one works and where the gas and water shut off valves are located before he left. He didn't leave a mess when he left either. We just had the work done so hopefully it all works just as well as the old for another 21 years. FYI they offer a pay in cash discount.

Make sure you get a clear understanding of the quote and an accurate estimate. I felt deceived by the owners quote and after further discussion with him, I was appalled at the poor customer service and I then declined their service. I was still forced to pay $95.00 for the plumber showing up much later than agreed. The plumber was nice and very professional, but the damage had been done through my communications with the owner.

I had a leak on the supply side of a cut off valve to a bathroom sink. Richard A Cook's plumber came out promptly and repaired the leak. Since he was on site, I had him fix problems with 2 other sinks and also the plumbing to the dishwasher, all at a fair price. I plan to give them a call the next time I need a plumber.
