I hired this company very late 9/2017 to repair a water leak inside an exterior door frame. After much thought, I have to truefully say I would have reservations about hiring them again for several reasons. #1. When the owner arrived at my door to give me a verbal bid, the bid changed at least twice before he left. When he later returned with a paper copy of the bid, the bid had yet again increased. When I started to ask questions about the bid Alec showed me, I was responded with every known reason in the “contractor industry” instead of expressing a sincere desire on his part to assist the homeowner with an equitable solution. But I agreed to hire Alec only because I had exhausted all other options and the weather was beginning to cause serious concern. #2. I believe there was a lack of adequate communication both before and during the repair. Before the repair, it should have been more formally outlined what was to have been taken apart, etc. Before the work started, it was my understanding that Alec and his worker would completely remove the exterior door to repair the leak. At some point, he and his worker decided to simply pry the door back with a pry bar or two without talking with the homeowner. During the process of all the repair, the pry bar(s) kept slipping out of place. The end result has now left me with a door that is so very badly bent that it does not close as intended that I am now dealing with a significant air draft which has lead to an even costlier repair and most likely eventually replacing the door. Also, it would have been appreciative to have been told that the main joist under the door would need to be removed before doing so as it was extremely noisy and from what I see ended up making an actual physical shift in either my house or the deck attached to my house. #3. Subflooring had to be replaced requiring disconnecting and reconnecting some electrical wiring. Alec in “contractor fashion” threatened to bring in an electrician to do this which I knew was unnecessary and for this he insisted on additional dollars above the bid. #4) While repairing the water leak, he and his worker badly damaged my drywall adjacent to the exterior door where they were working for which they did not offer to fix forcing me to now deal with cold air drafts, mildew and mold. One final point I want to make. This isn’t a 100% negative review of this company. However, When I think about the contractor industry as a whole, I believe that there is a “take it or leave it” attitude amongst those who represent the industry of which Alec has chosen to adopt. While this may cause some loss of business for him, I hope he will think about how he handled this particular situation and perhaps improve upon it in the future not only for himself but for his industry as a whole.
Response by Seattle Remodel Pro's, LLC: I'm sorry you feel that way. We do have signed change orders with clearly communicated work order details. Much of the work was sight unseen damage inaccessible without tearing into the floor and walls. I have pictures of everything and the damage to the drywall was minimal and covered by the original trim. The door does not have suitable weather stripping and is non insulated. I pointed this out and advised on cost to improve it and was declined. These claims are unfounded and/or not covered in our signed contract or change orders. The door was not completely removed to avoid further damage to the aluminum siding and interior. The door was

Amazing! I have contacted at least 6 other companies and not one of them would take the time to come and check out my flooring concern. Dylan from Home Adviser called and helped me find Seattle Remodel Pros and made an appointment. Alec from Seattle Remodel Pros came when he said he would and within minutes the problem was addressed! I was so impressed I hIred him to build a front porch.
