Replace Vinyl Liner for Swimming Pool

We are extremely disappointed with the quality of workmanship and (lack of) customer service after purchasing a new liner with installation for our in ground pool. The liner is severely wrinkled along the pool sides and has a tear in it. Additionally, they said they would include a new intake and returns, and acid wash the stairs, none of which they did. We also had them replace the sand in our filter and an installation a new motor in the pump. The project has been **completed** for over a month. We have called and texted with complaints, which either were not answered or were not followed up on. We filed a complaint with the BBB. Someone finally came out 2 days ago to check the pool liner and then texted us that there **was nothing they could do** We will be taking legal action next. No, we do NOT recommend this company!! If we wanted a wrinkled pool liner, we would have installed it ourselves.

Response from Company:

I would have to disagree with this review on many levels. First we installed the new liner well before the promised date. The pool was neglected and not opened for several years, as per the customer. As a result, the customer asked us to do additional work on their motor, filter and electrical all of which was performed without incident or issue. The issue raised by the customer was pre-existing, unforeseen and not attributable to Shieldedpools. A small, inconspicuous section of the pool floor was troweled unevenly by the builder. Although 99% of the pool is wrinkle free, a small blemish appears due to the existing pool floor. Secondly, no mention of new returns was made in the contract whatsoever. If HomeAdvisor agrees, we would happily post or signed contract with the customer. Finally, no pool professional would ever acid wash a fiberglass step! We have been in constant contact with the customer to bring this issue to a resolution. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and open communication.

These guys are great. I had a new liner put in and my pool was up and running within two days. They made sure everything was in place working properly. I will recommend these guys to everyone that has a pool in or above ground these are the guys. Thanks again Shielded pools. See ya at closing.

We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the state in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Businesses will not be admitted to the network if their owners or principals have the following felonies in their available criminal records*:

Arson

Assault/domestic violence/battery

Child abuse

Intimidation/terrorist threats

Kidnapping/abduction

Lewd and lascivious behavior

Manslaughter/murder/homicide/vehicular homicide

Rape/incest

Robbery/carjacking

Sex offenses

Other felonies not listed above that occurred in the past seven years

Contracting without a license in the past seven years

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened biennially.

How is COVID-19 impacting the HomeAdvisor background check program?

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several government agencies and courts across the country have temporarily closed their offices. While HomeAdvisor will continue its background check program to the extent possible, these closures could prevent some background checks from being performed. Please be advised that, during this period, if we could not perform a background check, HomeAdvisor will allow the business into the network and match the business to consumers. As affected government agencies and courts begin to re-open, we will resume our program in those jurisdictions. As always, we encourage consumers to perform their own research, to the extent possible, before hiring any business.

Licensing

We verify any applicable state-level licenses, and we require every business to attest that they carry the appropriate local licensing to practice their trade. Please note that HomeAdvisor does not confirm local licensing. Do your own research using online ratings, reviews and through phone interviews before hiring a company.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
