I needed a home office that was not only functional but also reflected my personality and tastes. The problem was, I didn't have a spare room. Carmen took a hard look at the availabe space in my home and designed an open concept office that flows beautifully into my formal dining room. I would have never thought of this myself, but the pieces and colors she selected work wonderfully together. This resulted in my using a very neglected area of my home in a very practical way. I love it!

As most young homeowners, we bought our first house 34 years ago with all the funds we had and used elbow grease to clean and fix and improve areas inside and outside as we had time and money. Neither my wife or I are very gifted with colors or special arrangements and for sure, not with design. We both work hard and don’t spend much time focusing on these matters. Thirty-four years later, we are still in the same house. One day is a rare creative moment in 2021 working from home, my wife and I thought we needed to update many things in our home, and we realized we could not do it alone. We did not have the skill or expertise. Our dear, lifelong friend, Carmen popped into our minds. Carmen and John have been friends for more than 47 years. We have seen Carmen’s beautiful gifts in designs and styles for many years in many different homes. Carmen was kind enough and gracious enough to join us on this journey of change with great wisdom and patience. Carmen met with us to understand our desires and helped us prioritize projects based on timing and budget. Carmen is a great listener. She understood our desires and she understood our budget and how to design in this budget. Almost always, Carmen would give us a recommendation with a low cost and a moderate cost option, and she was a genius at teaching us where and when it was important to spend more for a greater effect and where we could save on purchases. We have had so many people in our transformed home that just could not believe the transformations, especially in our dining area. They asked if we remodeled, added or removed kitchen cabinets and the like and all we did was paint (new colors), add a different dining room table, rug, shutters, and light fixtures. It was amazing to do what Carmen said as she led us to this beautiful and transforming result. We are so thankful and grateful. Carmen is such a professional. She never allowed us to choose something that would be a mistake, based on our limited gifts in this area. The magic here is that she led us to the best result with such patience and grace. Carmen is so honest and open, and she kept us in current design each and every time while we were choosing our changes. We recommend Carmen with the highest regard. As a professional writer who works from home, my work area is very important to me, but due to lack of space, my "office" has always had to perform double duty--second bedroom, etc... I contacted Carmen at Soho Interiors to help me solve the problem. Her solution was ingenious! I had a formal dining room in the front of the house that I did not use. She suggested turning that space into a beautiful open concept office area. From the desk to the chair to the colorful rug and other accessories, she handled it all, making sure that the look of my office is "mine" but that it also flowed with the rest of the home. Now, instead of working from a small room staring at a wall, I have a gorgeous view of my backyard swimming pool and a space that I can finally call mine and mine alone.
