The Paint Doctor stuccoed and painted my house. It was a good experience throughout the project. Brian was knowledgeable and thorough giving me options and working with me on the cost. Bridgette was great in supporting me in color choices. Daniel and his crew were professional in prepping and stuccoing the house and Chad has great work ethic, experience and completed the project. It's like I have a new house, and I love it!

Review by Leigh P. in Colorado Springs, CO
If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. We hired Paint Dr in June 2017 to repaint our rental property that we were getting ready to list for sale. Paint Dr was hired to paint the entire exterior and all interior surfaces except ceilings. The entire job cost around $13000 (of which only about $3000 was paint costs). One of the co-owners came out and gave us the estimate. He was very thorough, seemed knowledgeable and professional (plus the reviews online were good) so we decided to hire them, despite them being the highest bid. Here is a list of the problems we encountered: Our contract stated a master painter would oversee the project and the crew, what we got was a 20 year old kid. We were promised an experienced, professional crew, what we got was a rude group (with the exception of the kid) and they drank on the job. When Paint Dr was working on the interior, they were the only trade on site and at the end of each day we would find beer cans. Our contract stated that they would power wash the entire exterior of the home, make sure all screws/nails were tight (if not they would replace with new screws) and that they would patch any holes and re-caulk anything that needed what we got: the house was never power washed, areas that needed caulk didn't received it and no holes were filled (not even ones right next to the front door). Our contracted stated we would receive two coats of paint on the exterior and interior walls….they only applied one coat to both the interior and exterior. They only applied a second coat to the exterior after we brought the co-owner out. They also failed to paint areas of the wall behind several of the doors in the bathrooms and bedrooms. We were promised they would put down drop cloths and tape everything to insure that paint didn't get anywhere it wasn't wanted. The exterior of the home was to be sprayed and interior was to be rolled. No measures were taken to protect our landscaping when painting the exterior. There was over spray on everything. They "fixed" it by kicking the rocks around (after we pointed it out to the co-owner) so that it'd be less noticeable. They never cleaned the over spray off the windows or bricks. And my flowers and little bushes were crushed in multiple areas. Additionally, they sprayed the entire interior and used flimsy plastic "drop cloths" that tore easy. Everything inside (all finishes, windows, new granite counters, new tile kitchen backsplash, new carpet and wood floors) was covered in over spray or paint drips. They filled and cleaned out their paint sprayer in the middle of our front lawn, killing all the grass in that area. The co-owners solution was to have his team "spray-paint the dead area green". They also left all their tools and trash and paint buckets all over the lawn killing and damaging several other areas. They didn't rehang any of the doors correctly or in the right places fairly obvious since none of them would close all the way and had huge gaps at the top. It took my husband and me an entire day to correct all the doors. We had all new brushed nickel strike plates, handles, door hardware, bathroom fixtures and light fixtures etc. installed throughout the house. After the painters left, half the new brushed nickel strike plates were missing and it looked like they replaced it with whatever they had in their truck. And all the nickel screws in the door hinges and strike plates were gone and replaced with random old, dark screws (very obvious). Not to mention the overspray on everything. My husband was so angry at the final walk through; he just paid them and told them to leave. I would never, ever recommend this company to anyone. It's been 9 months and we are still mad. I would have written a review sooner but we have been busy with a new baby.
Response by The Paint Doctor: We wanted to respond to the review written by Leigh Perry. We did perform work on their house while they were selling it. We have finished their house almost 9 months ago and were never called before this review. If there was any issues we would have been very willing to address them if they had contacted us. When we had finished we were paid after the walkthrough and everything looked good at the time we had walked it. The painter there has been with us for several years and we've never had any issues. He is still with us and paints and average of 2-3 houses a week with customers that love his work. We have never heard any one ever say that there was alcohol on the job site on any jobs he has done in the last several years. I'm not sure where those came from but I can't imagine them coming from our painters as we've never had another comment about that in the entire time he has been with us. We did take the grass area seriously. The grass will grow back naturally but since they were selling their home we thought we would address it so it would show well in the mean time. We do have to clean our brushes and machines after use and they had never specified that they did not want that done in the yard at the time of work being performed. We always clean up the area also after we clean our brushes and items as to leave as little debris as possible upon completion. When we saw they were upset by that we tried to offer a solution until it grew back. Also, all of the paint we use is acrylic and latex based. When they say everything was "ruined" it would have cleaned up if it was brought to our attention at the walkthrough. We have different cleaning techniques if paint gets anywhere which will fix and clean paint drips. We always try to avoid it, but when you paint an entire interior and entire exterior sometimes it could happen. It is part of our job to go through and clean any areas with paint if it was brought to our attention. Like they had said they never brought any of these items to our attention and just didn't want to deal with it at the completion, then 9 months later hit us with a surprise review after never contacting us or addressing this issues at the walkthrough. We appreciate the opportunity to do work for them. We do upwards of 1200 houses a year and have been in business for 25 years. We always pride ourselves on doing the best job we can. Thank you for the opportunity to work with you, we're sorry for any inconveniences.

Review by John S. in Castle Rock, CO
We had to go to trial and get a court judgment against Paint Doctor for improperly done work and thousands of dollars of damages they caused. We have been through a year of pain with Paint Doctor - trust the glowing reviews you see. The job took from August to December 2016 but Paint Doctor never finished the final punch list and cleanup. There were many delays due to crews not showing up. Many weeks the crew worked less than 25 hours. The painter did not have the knowledge, skills or tools to complete the job correctly. Inspection by other professionals demonstrated that the painter did not perform work according to industry standards nor with reasonable care. The painter did not have right tools for accurate cuts on siding or trim and seemed to be learning as he went. He left large gaps in siding and trim. He used caulk and foam to try to hide the gaps in improperly cut boards. He put 10+ nail holes in places trying to find a stud. He left areas half-finished and exposed. He constructed the window trim wrong. He punched a hole through our bathroom window with a nail gun. He kept our windows masked off for weeks. A lot of the painting was done after it got colder than recommended by Sherwin Williams. The painter and crew walked off the unfinished job. A new crew did not start work until 5 days later and there was no handoff between crews. The crews damaged our lawn, swingset, lawn ornaments, window trim, interior plaster and deck. They splattered paint and primer all over our roof. Paint Doctor proposal specified that "All work will be performed by experienced master painters and supervised by a foreman." No foreman provided supervision. Some of the painters were in their early and we doubt they were Master Painters with 12 yrs. experience. The proposal said "The Paint Doctor will power wash all areas to be painted and allow to dry overnight," but a large section of the house and shed was painted without being power washed. Paint Doctor specified that they use "Sherwin Williams 55-year duration caulking," but they used cheaper DAP caulk in many areas. Paint Doctor proposal stated that deck and windows will be protected, but our brand-new TimberTech deck was ruined by overspray and lacquer thinner. Many of our brand-new windows were scratched and damaged by ladders. Paint Doctor specified that "Job site will be cleaned on a daily basis," but boards with nails sticking up were left for weeks. Paint Doctor did not maintain a safe worksite with daily cleanup as promised we picked up 4 pounds of nails after they left. From the amount of leftover paint, it does not appear that Paint Doctor did two coats as specified. Paint Doctor management provided inadequate estimating, supervision, oversight and inspection to ensure timely completion and quality work. Brian Wooldridge broke promises that he would regularly visit the job site to assure progress and quality. Paint Doctor never finished the job - they just stopped communicating. Paint Doctor would not pay for damages even after we presented them with pictures and repair invoices – I’m not sure why they advertise that they are bonded and insured. We had to spend thousands in legal fees to sue Paint Doctor for their improperly done work and damage they caused. Paint Doctor refused to make a reasonable offer, but the court cancelled the balance we owed and granted our full damages at trial. We are still trying to collect what Paint Doctor owes us.

The customer service we received from Chris and the professionalism of Andrew, the painter, was top-notch. Chris was in touch with us from the time we accepted the proposal until the job was completed. Andrew is a machine and a perfectionist. You can tell he takes pride in his workmanship and his work ethic is astounding. Both Chris and Andrew are true credits to The Paint Doctor brand. We are very pleased with the total transformation of our home.

Quality paint work with a few obvious (to me) discrepancies the painters missed but easily remedied. Chris was in constant contact with me regarding time lines. I would recommend him and his team.
