We ordered 2 interior back doors from Window Source in November 2017. I regret that tremendously now. The doors I wanted were nothing fancy, 2 doors with glass 3/4 of the way down, which is what we had. $6600.00- I said I can't do that and I was ready to end the sale. The salesman kept trying and said he had to make a sale that night. I ended up paying, I believe, $3100. This was still too much for stinking doors. I should have kept saying no. We did not get the doors installed until January; weather, workers were sick, other bigger jobs, somebody fell off a ladder. Unfortunately, when the doors were installed I was at work, so I couldn't comment. The doors only have 35 by 24 inches of glass and the color should be sandstone, but definitely looks Gray. I got with the salesman stating the color was gray, not sandstone, which is what I ordered. Came to look at the doors finally brought the color samples which I should have had when I ordered the doors and I wouldn't have ordered that color if that is what the manufacturer calls sandstone. I also commented about the size of the glass but I guess by the time he maneuvered to get a lower price this is what I got. He came out twice to check the color. Then the owner of the company came out with the sample, said "Your house is dark". Well, yeah, I lost more than half my light from these doors. Owner said that the doors matched the color sample???? The sun is coming to the back side of my house now and even now I am still seeing gray, no brown tones still GRAY. I am not able to paint the door as that would then affect the warranty. The owner thought that maybe different trim might make it lighten up, I said I would try that. They were going to have someone at there office stain and bring the trim out to the house to see if it helped. That was a few months ago, have not heard a thing. The doors aren't that impressive. We had to have a locksmith come out because we couldn't get one of the doors to lock. There is a gap at the top of the door double the size of the other side. I was told they would take care of issues if the framing was not level. I am unable to lock the door today that we had a problem with before because it is raining. I guess I was not a big paying customer so this is what I get. Not impressed with Window Source..... I wish I would have checked more companies before this decision.
Response by The Window Source of Indianapolis: The first thing I want to do is apologize. Our goal is to provide our customers with a great product along with a great experience. When a customer feels that did not happen we want to do everything we can to figure out why and how to fix it. So I want to address each one of your concerns and see how we can resolve this for you. You purchased the two 20 gauge steel doors December 1st 2017 and you are correct it was for $3100 total. I apologize you feel you did not get enough glass. This is unfortunate especially since you signed off on the door spec sheet. Not sure if you recall but this was the sheet with the picture of the inside and outside of the door along with all the specs that you signed off on at the time of sale and also at measure. You mentioned the doors were installed in January and I do remember we were delayed a couple times due to the winter weather, we apologize for that. I also apologize that you did not like the color that was delivered. I remember coming out to your home and talking with you in regards to the color of your doors after they were installed and you stated that the outside looked sandstone but the inside did not. You thought the inside looked gray and that is when I said that the color appears different on the inside of the home because the room we were in had very little sunlight or home lighting hitting it and so it appeared "grey" . I remember one of the two skylights you had in that room had a black garbage bag over it to stop the water leak you had at the time. My opinion was that the darkness of the room was causing the door to look darker inside then it did in the sun outside. Unfortunately colors will look different inside vs out due to the light. It can vary from room to room due to lighting, color of paint/walls, etc. I apologize we were unable to see this was going to happen when we were originally out. You stated above that you cannot paint the door due to the warranty. The good news is that you CAN paint the door and it will not void the warranty on the glass, the door or any of the parts, the installation, etc. Obviously it would void the paint finish warranty on the door if you paint it, but nothing else. You mentioned that you felt the doors were not that impressive and that you had to have a locksmith come out because the door would not lock. You may not remember but you chose to forego our hardware and purchase and install your own hardware. I just wanted to make sure you remembered so that you can contact the manufacturer of the hardware in case the problem occurs again. Also, please remember that you received a workmanship warranty as well as a warranty on the door which includes the lifetime warranty on the glass. A gap can be due to a few things and so if you are having issues with the door we will gladly come out and look. But I looked up our service log and we had not received a call from you so make sure you call us next time. We will fix anything that may be wrong with th
