Write a ReviewCheap but did marginal work. Completely missed wallpaper below center drawer in the bathroom vanities.
My dog had caught his collar on and broken a tilt bar on one side of a pair of plantation shutters. Eric thought he could fix the tilt bar, took it away, called to say he couldn't fix it but maybe Home Depot could match it,. HD couldn't, so he wanted to order a pair of replacements. This took about six weeks. I asked him to bring the shutter back because in the meantime I'd gotten in touch with the company that had originally installed the shutters and they said they could replace the tilt bar. Eric said he couldn't bring the shutter back because when it was in his shed, his workers had thrown something against it and ruined it. He did give me half off ($250) another job he was doing for me to cover the original (year 2000) cost of a single shutter but the company doesn't make those particular shutters any more. So I had to replace both shutters at a cost of nearly $1000 when the shutter place could have fixed the original broken tilt bar. Eric did say to call him for reimbursement if the $250 didn't cover the shutter but I didn't. The entire experience took two months. It was clear by the end that Eric didn't know how to replace the tilt bar and should never have taken the job. Had he turned it down, I'd have been able to have it fixed and would not be out $750.
Eric Remmick is respectful of property- treating it like it was his own home-courteous, on time, dependable, and meticulous. If you've ever seen the HGTV shows, you know a remodel often presents challenges. Eric was able to think creatively to solve the little "gotchas" in removing our existing 24" bathroom door and replacing it with a 30" for my mother's wheelchair access. He had to put in new header, move light switch, replace floor tiles, make the transition between tile and laminte flooring, drywall and paint with both acrylic and hybrid paints. The entire project only took 2 days. I am completely pleased with the result. He requires nothing less than the best from both himself and his helpers. He is a craftsman. I would highly recommend him for your home project.
Owner Eric Remmick was quick to reply soon after I contacted Homeadvisor. I had just come off of a negative experience with Lowes who never contacted me back on my request to use their installation services. I waited one month to hear from Lowes before using Homeadvisor, and Eric contacted me in less than one hour. Eric is prompt with his appointments, he was able to give me an estimate by the end of his first visit which I felt was reasonable and good value for the money given the size of the project. His estimate included shopping for, picking up and installing an attic access door. So I didn't need to do a thing. He and his team arrived promptly as scheduled. Within one hour they'd removed the old door and installed the new door. The replacement door was a solid and high quality metal ladder. Their work was also of extremely high quality. I'm VERY pleased. I just moved and for several years had a handy man I relied on. After this experience with Uplink Construction and Eric, I am definitely going to use them again.
I originally hired Eric Remmick to fix the grout my kitchen tile – that was crumbling. When he started to fix, he showed me where the kitchen tiles were only being held down by the grout and no longer adhered to the floor. He said he could fix that, but asked if I had extra tiles that matched, there were 2 tiles in my garage, when he got a closer look in one area he counted 21 tiles that were loose. He tried to find a match for the 14 year old tiles, because if more than 2 broke – he would need to replace. He did not find a match, he said he could still fix but if more than 2 tiles broke he would have to stop & just fix the grout but could not guarantee the work would last. I decided that the best thing would be to just replace the entire floor. I have found Eric to be honest , I am going to have him bid on another job for me.
Finding someone reliable and trustworthy to do the job well was a big concern for me. I've been fortunate to have a husband that could repair anything, but now that I'm a widow I turned to HomeAdvisor. To my RELIEF, Eric will be my "go to" handyman for future projects. He was up front with his quote and took the time to explain what needed to be done. I showed him a picture of the door/hardware that I wanted and yesterday, he arrived as scheduled, with the door, trim, paint and everything needed. Eric performed the task of removing the challenging old stubborn door and frame and a few hours later I was looking at a new, freshly painted exterior door that opened and closed perfectly!! Eric was professional, courteous and knew what he was doing. Here's the best part...since my husband used to do all the projects, I was always his designated helper and cleanup crew. Yesterday, was actually a nice feeling to leave it all to Eric to get the job done!
Eric was professional and offered suggestions
Courteous and patient. It was nice to do business with him.
Jack was honest, up front with his costs, and knows what he's doing from many years experience. His carpenter Patrick Miller did an amazing job with the molding work in a room we have that was challenging because of its shape. We will be bringing them back for our remodel to the kitchen.
Eric Remmick performed the work along with a helper and accomplished the work in short order. The job was complicated by the windows having bars but the job was done on budget.
