Business Overview

How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I have a deep interest in understanding how things work and operate. It's rewarding to provide folks with very important answers and information about their home. Being born and raised in New Jersey and from an early age this constant interest only strengthened. As an adult, I became more focused on the structure and functioning of sports and entertainment venues and facilities. Developing a keen eye for assessing both quality and safety, I returned to school to fine-tune my knowledge of construction and the internal and external mechanics of homes and became a licensed home inspector. I also received invaluable training on insurance companies' own evaluations of residential properties. Now, I not only inspect homes through the eye of building science but I also interpret what insurance companies might deem a liability or safety hazard.

We started in this industry in 2.

We describe our business as Well established

Project: Inspect a Home
Phil is a real pro. He completed the entire inspection in less than 2 hours. He is very responsive in all communications and easy to work with. I already recommended him to my other friends. We like him a lot!

Project: Inspect a Home
Phil was a breath of fresh air in a home buying process that would have tried the patience of Mahatma Gandhi. He's a regular, down-to-earth guy and a consummate professional. We had difficulty scheduling the inspection since the sellers were less than cooperative, and yet despite having to cancel appointments and juggle them around more than once, Phil never wavered in his professionalism and willingness to accommodate us. Phil is not only friendly, but very thorough, and took the time to explain all the issues (and potential issues) he encountered, as well as give us some advice on how to maintain the appliances that we were not yet familiar with as first time home buyers. His inspection report was plenty detailed with virtually zero turnaround time. He even provides you with a packet of useful information for first time homeowners. Last but not least, he's honest. We were less than enthused about needing to pay for unnecessary tests for our specific situation, and rather than pressure us into paying more, he advised us that we were most likely correct, and that to pay for those tests would be a waste of money. We ended up needing them anyway, as our bank ultimately required them, but we would have saved some money otherwise. I can tell you that I spoke to numerous inspection companies, and none of the others were as forthcoming about the need for those tests in our situation. Of all the decisions made in our home buying process so far, choosing Veriguard for our home inspection is one I would not hesitate to make again.

Project: Inspect a Home
Great Job! Phil was very courteous from the first phone call till the end of the inspection in the home. Very precise and lot of attention to details and made sure to explain all the steps thru the process. Highly recomend! They even arranged a oil tank sweep to be done along the home inspection which was very convenient!

Project: Inspect a Home
The experience of the "home inspection" for a property we intend to buy was great. He was on time, did a full inspection on the house, took several pictures, made comments and the report contained a lot of useful information. Besides we rescheduled a lot of times and he accommodate to our needs as buyers. I definitely recommend his services.
