Project: Repair Natural Gas or Propane Furnace / Forced Air Heating System
The furnace issue was resolved on site. They were prepared to make board level repairs without coming back for a 2nd visit. Seemed expensive but it's fixed and working again.

After extensive research about the HVAC products and the descriptions about the complexity of installation for our home, we selected Wighton's. The bid was lower than the competition. They started the day after we agreed to the bid and completed the project in 5 consecutive days. We realized very quickly that professional installation was as important as the 2 complete HVAC systems. Everything went very well and we felt we received the best in every way.

Project: Repair Natural Gas or Propane Furnace / Forced Air Heating System
The service technician was friendly and explained the process and results as he was working. He arrived on time and spent an appropriate amount of time doing his work. The concerns that I have are specific to one aspect of the inspection/ check up. I have lived in my home for a few months and had not used the furnace. I was aware that the system lacked an air filter. In our system, a filter is supposed to be installed behind a return grille which is about 12 feet above the floor in the family room, so it is a bit difficult to access. The technician told me that a filter could not be installed safely behind the grille because the grille did not have a slot to hold the filter. I was advised that a custom grille would need to be fabricated. I thought that was odd, since the house is 35 years old, the furnace itself was installed in 2011, and it obviously had been used previously. The next day, I received an invoice/ estimate from Wighton's for $632 for this work (including 1.5 hours of labor). I measured the grille, the space for the filter, and the duct diameter and verified that an 18 X 24 X 1 inch grille should fit snugly behind the grille. The home inspector whom I hired to inspect the home prior to our purchase, Martin Hewitt of Camelot Home Inspections, offered to take a look at the grille and filter requirements and confirmed, as I had suspected, that a custom grille was not needed, and that an 18" x 24" x 1" filter would fit and work fine. Martin even assisted by cutting and installing a new filter (a 20" x 30" filter designed to be trimmed to the correct size that I had just purchased) while he was up there inspecting the grille and ducting. Martin is terrific! Wighton's, on the other hand, I now view with suspicion and skepticism.

Project: Repair Electric Furnace / Forced Air Heating System
the worker arrived and then spent 15 minutes on a personal phone call. He was very pleasant but I would like to see his personal phone calls on his time not mine. It was lucky that we did not have to get back to work that day.
