Comment: Kitchen floor and cabinet upstairs were affected in which a water filter leaked enough to flood part of floor, leak down into basement through a vent, and cabinet or subfloor, collapse ceiling tile (dropped ceiling), flood floor locally below and on the way down into cabinet, tv, blue ray player. We don't know how long the leak had been going on but came home from work to find the damage. All told visible water on floors and surfaces was around a gallon. Kitchen floor is laminate before water proof-resistant laminate was available and is warping around edges. So far downstairs laminate does not show moisture damage but ceiling tile was saturated enough to collapse. A sponge mat in front of sink may have absorbed some of the water.

There is carpeting in the master bathroom and it's very soggy. The water has seeped out further from the floor surrounding the tub perhaps into the master closet as well as the spare bedroom on the other side of the wall. I just noticed on Wed 5/22 that the downstairs family room ceiling began showing signs of water spots. Of course we stopped using the tub and the soggy floors are drying out a bit. A water restoration company recommended by my homeowners insurance came out yesterday and said the entire bathroom would need tearing down including tub and vanity, etc. They said a leaking tub valve might be the cause but it's hidden below the surface and would need tearing up. I'm inclined to think most of the water was splashed out of the tub and I just need carpeting torn up and replaced with linoleum. If it wer
