Comment: I am building a container home (duplex) on a lot I own at 2712 Fox St. 77003 in East Downtown (EADO). My financing is already approved with Prosperity Bank. Prosperity is waiting for me to pick my GC and submit detailed cost estimate (so they can do their appraisal) and contract with my chosen GC. My detailed architectural/structural plans were submitted to the city of Houston on July 2nd and I expect comments back no later than 1st week of August. I have been in a temporary living situation since October following Harvey and ready to get back into my own home!! Thanks for your time in advance.

Comment: I am a real estate investor. I have come across a 12000 sqft lot with a 2000 sqft house on the lot. There is a empty lot next to the lot in question and that lot is maybe another 12000 sqft. The asking price for the lot with the flood damaged house is $350K. I am thinking of demolishing the flood damaged house to build a modern townhouse. With an estimate of 24000 sqft, there is a chance to section six 2,000 sqft homes with garages and enough height above ground to prevent flood damage. If the level of the house is 1 ft above the base flood elevation, then $1K is subtracted from the flood insurance. Well, what if the house is elevated 3 ft above flood elevation then the flood insurance should be as if a low-to-moderate zone. I am just saying the is alot of profit in this investment opportunity if the lots are acquire at a low enough price.

Comment: I'm a single female, first gen, 26 year old--without a spectacular income--desperate to invest in a home I can afford, be in love with, and plan on living in for years to come while still having the comfort of long-term equity growth. While a 1B condo is easily in reach for me, I want to be able to support my father as he nears retirement & and leave the door open for my younger sister should she need it. This would be my second run at ownership, after backing out of an option contract last year. I am not looking for anything glamorous, but there are a few specifics-- so the custom home track seems like it may provide the perfect balance & allow the compromise needed for my budget. I'd like to focus on the physical structure, plumbing, wiring, and overall layout of the house now ("essentials")-- while cutting back on aesthetic finishes & amenities which I can budget and address over the long-term instead. I want a better understanding of what this can realistica
